wifi 6 question

Currently have optimum with their internet 400 plan. Current modem and router support 1 gig speeds. Will be getting a new router that supports wifi 6 and I know the Note 10 has this as well. Right now when doing a speed test I'm getting close to 400 mbps. Realistically, will I even notice any difference? What can I expect?

Depends on what speed demands your Note is putting on your local WiFi network. I would think it would be pretty hard with a phone to push your network to it's limits the way it stands now. I am using Optimum as well with only 200 but no issues. Was thinking of also getting my own router since they lock you out of bring able to properly wake up a PC remotely using Wake-on-Lan "Magic" message. They really dumb down the router interface. Also thinking of doing that to implement a VPN connection from the router at home for all my devices to use. What model router are you thinking of getting? if you want something good that supports WiFi 6 it gets expensive fast. Since I don't have any issues with my current speed however, I am have trouble justifying the purchase to myself. Thought? So, like Stephen says, anyone else have experience with WiFi 6 on a Note 10+ at home and comments on speed differences?

ordered this - way way overkill since I don't play games but I wanted it for the larger wifi coverage for my house . Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 AX11000 Tri-Band 10 Gigabit WiFi Router. Might get a new Doscis 3.1 modem but probably won't see any benefits for quite some time except to stop paying rental fees.

I don't see how you can get more than 400 when your plan is 400. I have a gig plan with Verizon and get 600 -700 over WiFi 6 on my Note 10+. I think WiFi 6 won't do you much good unless you also up your plan. But 400 isn't bad at all.

I have this router as well. Posted a while back about it. It is a beast of a router and have no dead spots in my 5600sq ft house now, have 42 devices connected to it and never skips a beat.

Wi-Fi speed is not the same as ISP speed. So if your ISP speed is 400, you won't be able to take advantage of this. However, if you have a local NAS and other devices in the house, your Wi-Fi 6 will take advantage of those devices. That's if only both machines are using AX technology.

what makes me mad is I purchased a new router back in november. It was not wifi6 because of the prices. In december the prices had gone down and I was looking at prices today and they really went down. oh well. I still got a good router.

anyway, IMO, there are not really that many devices that support wifi 6 and unless you purchased a new phone recently you may not have anything that supports it. If you are already getting close to what your isp sends you, you really do not need a new wifi 6 router at this time. Wait until there is a better selection of wifi 6 routers at better prices.

Wifi 6 is fantastic. I doubled my speeds in my house while improving signal reliability but as they mentioned it is limited on your ISP speed limits.

LOL, not as much. Even a laptop still using N and AC. I'm running a ASUS MESH system right now and love it, I only have several devices that actually taking full advantage of the AX WI-FI 6.

This one was an earlier chip, I did get those when they first came out before anyone. Now that intel offer WiFi6 so I went with that instead. Lot cheaper.
