Wifi issues?

I contacted my carrier, who had nothing, and suggested I contact LG directly. They had nothing on this issue either, suggested I try a reset, and if that didn't work, to check with Sprint repair center. Reset did nothing, and since LG isn't aware of the issue, I'm afraid it may be hardware related. I may need to get a replacement from Sprint.

For signal quality strength issues, you can heat map your (and others WiFi) using any number of WiFi apps.

Couple of apps worthy of mention from my limited experience with android, Fing - but this is more about checking the network your connected to and reliability testing, the other is WiFi analyser. Very good for discovery of dead spots in your home or indeed work network.
If you have a laptop, Ekahau Heatmapper does the same job but a bit easier to use with a simple floor plan created in paint.

These are all free BTW.

Some common practice cheap advice for WiFi.

Try and get a channel on your router your nearest neighbours\equipment aren't using. I say equipment as my some has a turtle beach headset with 5 GHz base station, it was channel hoping on the same low frequency range as my router and AP's. Changing channel removed all manner of jiggery.

If your router is in one corner of your house, you will improve your signal making a simple reflection antenna using tin foil. The type you stick in the oven to cook with.

ETA: Didn't work...I just tried on my work guest network. You have to use static IP to add advanced DNS settings.

You could try changing the DNS settings in your router though? Ordinarily I use open DNS settings.

Stopped by a Sprint Store on my way home from work today, and I think they've fixed it for me. They disabled both connection optimizers on it, and that appears to have fixed it.

I thought they said there were two, but I can only find the Sprint one. I know my HTC One M8 had two.

They also turned off most of the settings on the Advanced Wifi page. The only one I changed was to keep Wifi on when the screen is off.

Hi all,

Created this account in android central just to post this. I dont know if there is anything to do with what I have found or this is already a known issue, or even this is a coincidence. I was checking the new google street view feature recently lunched here in Turkey. I was home and connected to wifi. Also, 3G was on, but of course not active. The minute I started google maps, I got the gps icon on the status bar and wifi icon was gone(3g took over). Couple of seconds later wifi was back again. But it was happening very frequently that made it almost impossible to use google maps. Then I turned off the gps and the issue was gone. I was able to use maps and street view very fluently.

Has anyone experienced this?

I also have a netgear router (power cycled with modem) no problems at all last night on the 2.4 ghz channel. Tried the 5g channel (that was giving me the problem originally) before bed and it happened again. I also almost returned it to best buy last night but had no issues with their wifi for 20+ minutes in store which a what got me thinking about the band I was using. Will continue to look in to this.

I have the same issue on netgear router 5ghz WiFi. The g4 dosn't like the 5ghz for some reason.

Weird, after no issues in my first 4 days with this phone, this Wi-Fi drop issues crept up 5 or 6 times today. I'll go to do something and no data gets transmitted but the Wi-Fi connection is fine. I had this randomly on my G3 to do i wonder if something is up with my Netgear Nighthawk. I have about 7 or 8 other Wi-Fi devices but haven't seen it on them.
I may be very late but.. I also have a nighthawk and it does this

Yeah on netgear routers, I would not use auto channels. For some reasons, they don't like that. See what channels are being used around your neighborhood and choose one that is being used less. That's what I did and all my devices (laptop, ps4, 2 phones Chromecast and a few other devices) started to work again. They would not connect for shat in auto channel mode. Very weird.

So I got MMS to work. I use Tetra as my text messaging app. In the settings there is a option under MMS advanced that says MMS behavior. I changed it from legacy to system. Not sure exactly what that does, but my MMS messages seem to be working and my wifi is fast.
