WiFi only Xoom for $600!! Who's in ?

What are the chances that they will release it the same day as the 3g version?
I would say 0%. Verizon has to have some type of exclusivity for the XOOM, and I personally don't think the Wi-Fi only version will be coming to the US until the 3rd quarter. I could be wrong.

I'm in

I'm in for 600 dollars. Strange no announcement on when wifi only would be available or at least say same day as 3G version. The drama is not over though. If next week comes and the 3G model releases without a wifi only model, tensions will flare up unless a release date is given. Good job on pricing, bad job on handling.

This news couldn't be better. I feel like a kid the night before Christmas. $600 for wi-fi only and $799 (UNSUBSIDIZED) for the 3G is fantastic! This is a definate iPad killer!

How much do folks think Verizon will sell them for subsidized?

Personally, I think $200 is worth spending for the flexibility. While I could tether with my Epic, it's one more thing to worry about, and I'm guessing that the Xoom running 3G will have better battery life than the Epic acting as a router. And, given that the Xoom will be upgradable to LTE sometime in the future (at a cost, I understand), it makes sense to spend just a little more.

Also, I'll be buying mine at Costco, and if they do their typical $100 discount, then the price will be $699 (and with a 90-day return, to boot). That seems entirely reasonable for what I'll be getting. Overall, I'm cool with the whole thing.

XOOM for $789 plus waived activation fee at Costco. Still require 1-month data though.

So you will save about $10!

As for the WiFi only version. If it includes 32gb storage then its the same price as the equivalent iPad. With better specs. So I could see me forking over the cash for that depending on when it gets released. If they will be sitting on it till after Summer then I will have a different tablet by then.

Most likely the Toshiba tab depending on their price and release.

There is no subsidized price, since Verizon doesn't offer term contracts for their tablet plans. Their tablet plans are month-to-month, and they won't even offer a 1 or 2 year contract for the XOOM.

Saved $45. Verizon charges $35 for activation fee.

I'm in. Unsubsidized $800 is still a little much, but the $600 WiFi is perfect.

If Wifi is released on the same date as the 3G version then I'll most definitely get Wifi, otherwise I'll get the data for a month and cancel, but then I'll always have the option to get a plan again if I ever feel that wifi-only isnt enough.

That's exactly how I feel. I don't mind paying a premium just for the flexibility. I know I'd probably be kicking myself if I buy the wifi-only version and then find I really need the 3G/4G capability...

I can see where you are coming from on that. My thought is that I would take that $200+tax and possibly any resale value of the WiFi (if within 6 month probably 50% or $300) to use towards (about $500) the future's next best tablet.

ONLY $250.00 For the Tablet I have....... A Nook Color running HoneyComb. Yehaaa! Im set. check it in the Forums...........

...and my 4 year old thinks his tricycle is a motorcycle too! :D

So true! If people actually think there Nook Color with HC will compare to the Xoom, there crazy.

I just went to my local Costco on my lunch break and the guys in the electronics section told me its coming on the 24th (duh!) and they knew nothing of a wifi only version, just the 3G + wifi with one month of data required. I think its a safe bet that the wifi only version will NOT be released anytime soon.

Didn't mean to offend, I wasn't criticizing you for your thought. You just said "you imagine you will..." that says to me you were leaning towards doing it.

It really wasn't a big deal to me, I said "if it is worth that money for you then it sounds like a understandable plan."

Oh, I am not offended. Also I seem to have gotten my posts confused. You were responding to ChuckG73, not me.
