WiFi only Xoom for $600!! Who's in ?

In for Wifi - unless the Samsung 10.1 can undercut this one on price. It's basically identical specs, so i wouldnt expect it to. Paying 200 bucks for the ability to use data (LTE or 3g) isnt worth it to me. I rarely use my iPad out of the house anyways and I could always just tether.

Not me....I think tablets are pointless for my needs.

Everything I would need to do on the Xoom, I can already do on my Droid X or the laptop I already own (which was barely HALF the price of what the WiFi only Xoom will be after tax).

Don't get me wrong...I love technology, but I love having $ in my bank more.

Purchased nvida stock yesterday and its up 8% today woohoooo might use the extra money and get the 3g/4g version.

600$ for a tablet when you can get a chineese 10inch tablet for 250 or a archos 10 inch for 300. Im going to wait for a price drop or another tablet to at least 500$

To each his own, my friend. Competition is always good for the customer.

I would use a hotspot wifi modem of some type.

Personally I would not buy a tablet with the 3G or 4g radio built in. I plan on using a portable hotspot or tethering with a thunderbolt.
The portable hotspot is good because you can set it in the best place for connectivity and use the tablet and other devices around the room or building. It works well and you are not locked into a contract for the tablet thingy.
I like the Xoom idea, I hope android gives the Apple OS a run for its money.

As great as wifi only sounds, I like the thought of having the 3G/4G optional. im gonna try a few months of 3G out, and see how it goes.

Did I read today's paper correctly? In order to use the wifi antenna...you have to pay for their monthly service for a period of time? So I can't just buy a tablet (for $800) go home and use MY wifi network without paying extra? That's pretty much how the Best Buy flyer makes it sound....

Then again, I already have a smartphone and a laptop, so a tablet is just a useless expense glorified by advertising to me. I just can't believe that I read that. I don't see them advertising a wifi only model, but to spend the extra 200$ and not be able to use just wifi?
