Hey everyone. My wife has a note 3 and she has been having an odd bug since she got the phone back in October.

Randomly her phone will disable WiFi , Bluetooth, and screen rotation all at once without any notice or action from her. This is a big deal for us since she has limited data and enjoys using Netflix every night while falling asleep. She has already once gone over her 6 gig monthly limit since her phone will unexpectedly disable WiFi on her and we end up using her data plan for Netflix.

Google has not netted any helpful results, any ideas?

Just noticed my wifi been getting turned off as well. Then it kicks back on after a little bit.. Thought it was just crappy Internet, but now I think it's the phone

Under Advanced WiFi settings, make sure Keep WiFi on during Sleep is set to always and make sure the box for auto network switch is unchecked. Also turn off always allow scanning.

I don't know if that will fix your issue since you mentioned Bluetooth as well which wouldn't be affected by those but those 3 settings cause the majority of wi-fi disconnect issues that are not router related.

You should also make sure there are no battery saving apps installed or settings in other apps, like task managers/killers or security/anti-virus apps, that have settings to turn these things off at a set time or with a certain battery percentage. Wireless, bluetooth, auto screen rotation are all examples of things that would be shut off in a power saving mode on many apps.

If she uses an anti virus app such as avg they have a power save feature that will turn a bunch of things off when they get to a certain battery level (usually 10-50%).

It used to happen to me using avg and I didn't know what was doing it till I uninstalled avg and the problem went away.

I reinstalled it to show you a couple of screen shots of what I mean.

Hope this helps. Hope she gets the problem resolved!

Sarks.

Forgot to add - if she's worried about data if you go to settings >> data usage you can set warnings to alert you if you're near a certain limit (you set the limit) and you can also set it to limit your data so say if you set it to alert you of coming close to using 5gb you can also set it to turn off data when you reach 5gb - so you don't go over.

Just be sure to set it for the right cycle (who your monthly bill gets paid and your data is reset for the next month.

I hope that makes sense ha it's after 5 am here!

I've included a screen shot too.

Sarks.

Also if there is a Verizon "wifi helper" on the phone, like Sprint and AT&T do, disable that. She also might want to turn data off while she is watching movies, just in case.

Also, I'm assuming power saving mode isn't on? And in the advanced settings of the wifi there are several options: Keep/Turn off Wifi during sleep, Allow for scanning, and the one that might be causing your problem (forgot about this one) "Auto network switch, which, "Auto switch between wifi and mobile networks" it says under it. I have it unchecked and I keep wifi on and I never have a problem with auto connecting to my regular wifi's I have saved.

One thing about that setting, when you click on it to turn it on, the description pops up and says "Mobile data may be used to maintain a stable internet connection. This may increase data usage".

I have Never keep wifi on during sleep, I unchecked Always allow scanning, because it gives you that "your internet connection is unstable message" and mine never is. Do you might want to turn off the "auto network switch" if it is on and the "always allow scanning" because it will not say your internet connection is unstable and then switch it to mobile data.

Thank you so much. I had the same problem with my redmi 2 and found out that the culprit was the "battery saving app" that you mentioned. It kept turning off my wifi whenever my battery went below 14%...
