Will anyone dare use the 6P without a case?

I have dbrand carbon fiber back / front and sides. The front and back fit perfectly and adds a little bit more texture to help with the slippery phone. The side, was a little difficult to put on since it's so thin and you have to fit around the buttons. Mine is still a little off around the power button but not much I can do unless I want to order a replacement side. It actually would look good without the sides but it does add more grip so I left it on.

As someone that never puts a case on, dbrand is probably the next best thing. I'll probably order another different set so that I can change the whole look of the phone when this gets old or beat up.

Highly recommended if opting out of getting a case.

Thanks. Will def look into it. Did you couple that with tempered glass screen protector or full nudity up front?

I'm using the Speck CandyShell case with my 6P. Best case I've ever owned for any phone. Obviously it adds bulk, but so what? The bad thing about added bulk is that all else being equal, it makes the thing harder to handle. But all else is not equal. This case adds so much grip and surface area that it actually makes the phone much easier to handle, even with my small hands.

I bought the Speck Candy Shell during the Black Friday sale from Google and am not particularly happy with it. While it does add grip and some added protection, I would like it to be harder. My biggest issue is that the case does not provide a lot of rigidity, something I'd like to add to the 6P. Worse, the easiest place for it to bend is the same place the 6P typically bends -- right by the power/volume buttons.

I'm sticking with the Spigen Hybrid case, which is thinner and has just as much rigidity (more near the power buttons and is cheaper (even when the Candyshell was one sale). It also has the advantage of being clear, so it shows off how great the phone looks. The only negative I see, compared with the Candyshell, is the lack of grip comparatively.

Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

Took my 6p out to the EMP in Seattle tonight for my wife's holiday party. First time out without a case... Promptly dropped it twice within the first hour. It handled like a champ! Trying to not make the drooling a habit tho for sure.

Good to know. I'm still waiting for my case to come.

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

I'm nit worried about dropping.

As much as I love using my phones naked I can't handle the nicks I got from my previous two.

Just a matter of time before......

I always go naked, however I rarely drop my phone. I don't like the bulk of cases.

I don't understand your comments at all. The phone is metal, so I guess I didn't think it needed any added rigidity at all. But I don't usually sit on my phone. The Speck case seems plenty rigid to me as well, although I did not try flexing it without the phone in it.

Also, the Speck adds shock-absorption material all around, including on the back. The Spigen Hybrid only has it around the circumference. (Or maybe even just the corners? They call it "Air Cushion Technology." I love it.) Phones don't only land on corners when dropped, though, and gravity does not care. It's easier to make it thin when you're not adding any shock absorption. I could paint my 6P and call that an ultra-thin "case." The Spigen Hybrid does look nice, though.

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

If you rarely drop your device it makes sense to go naked but its always a risk.

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

Yeah, I put mine in a case right away. I took it out yesterday and was reminded at how slippery this thing is... And back in the case it went. There's a cost to that fancy metal suit.

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

A TPU skin doesn't add any bulk but it does provide some protection. The skin makes the phone less slippery and I also find that it's more comfortable to hold. The skin also puts a small lip around the the screen which will protect it from a fall on a flat surface like a floor. I put a skin on my phones the second I get them.

2x in an hour? lol, next holiday u might want to use a case if you're having trouble holding onto it.

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

I started using my Nexus 6 without a case. I figured I'm good with phones - I haven't had any accidents since my iPhone 3G, and that was 4 phones & several years ago. Then I went to a concert with my wife (Dead & Company) last month. I put the phone in the Seido case I had previously used with it, thinking I might be clumsy after drinking at the show. Then in the car on the way home I decided to take the phone out of the case for better access to the audio jack. When we got home, I forgot that the phone was in my lap and it fell from my lap to the pavement as I got out of our Honda Accord - I mention the car to point out that it was dropped from a fairly low height. Gorilla glass, my ***. I think it's a clever marketing ploy. The lower 10% of the glass has a crack going all the way across.

A few days ago I ordered a 6P, and it came in on Friday I realized I forgot to order a case, lol. So my case is arriving tomorrow, and all weekend I'm still using the cracked N6 because I now refuse to start toting around my nice, sexy 6p naked :P

Murphy's Law strikes when least expected.

all of my drops in the past have always come from exiting my car. I finally smartened up and no longer keep it on my lap. I don't doubt there's a bit of marketing involved with Gorilla Glass, but almost any phone is gonna crack from a spill on pavement without a case, even if it is only a couple feet.

enjoy the 6p though. IMO it's a solid upgrade from the 6 and definitely the best phone money can buy right now!
