Will anyone dare use the 6P without a case?

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

Coming off an all glass phone (Sony Z3v and the only phone that ever cracked on me) I am very careful with the 6p. My biggest concern is the camera visor.

Therefore, I have the Google carbon case. Nice, sturdy and comfy and luckily, it was only $18 when it was half off during Black Friday.

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

Engineers and Designers work together so hard to give us the beautiful phone we have in our hands! lets not ruin it with a case!

I don't understand your comments at all. The phone is metal, so I guess I didn't think it needed any added rigidity at all. But I don't usually sit on my phone. The Speck case seems plenty rigid to me as well, although I did not try flexing it without the phone in it.

Also, the Speck adds shock-absorption material all around, including on the back. The Spigen Hybrid only has it around the circumference. (Or maybe even just the corners? They call it "Air Cushion Technology." I love it.) Phones don't only land on corners when dropped, though, and gravity does not care. It's easier to make it thin when you're not adding any shock absorption. I could paint my 6P and call that an ultra-thin "case." The Spigen Hybrid does look nice, though.

There are the videos of bending the phone. While the video was sensationalized, the phone does have a "weak point" between the power and volume buttons, much the same way the iPhone 6 does. If you look, a lot of the metal is "missing", replaced by the buttons. And while the phone is metal, it is aluminum -- not the hardest/most durable of the metals -- and there are people here who have had minor issues with the phone bending.

In my case, I'm not worried about having heavy duty drop protection, I rarely drop my phone and, when I do, it is typically a relatively short drop. Additionally, drop tests show the phone holds up pretty well. Instead, I tend to carry my phone in my front pocket. While I'm being careful with it and typically pulling it out of my pocket while sitting, there are times I have to bend or do other things while the phone is in my pocket. So, in my case, I'm more worried about bend protection than drop protection.

Oh, and even with a drop, it is largely only if it falls directly on the back (where the plastic piece is) that the Spigen Hybrid doesn't really have any shock absorption. Especially with the "camera hump", the phone just isn't going to land where the hard plastic is located, rather than TPU, on the back. The other areas are all covered with about the same amount of TPU as the Speck case, just without the hard plastic coating, including around the back glass. And, my point about rigidity, having the hard plastic go almost to the camera bump, it does provide extra rigidity at the weak point in the phone.

I take my Spigen case off at home and wish I have the balls to leave it off but after the nicks and scratches my naked LG G4 went through, I can't.

I'm not worried about drops but I hate nicks & scratches more.

I have only cracked one phone in my life and it was the recent Sony Z3v. While it dropped a few times within a year, it took a subtle but frontal hit on hard carpet a few months ago. The hairline crack was also subtle, but enough to make manuevering cumbersome.

Lesson learned - when you have a slippery phone, you better protect it! FWIW - I use the Google carbon case. It's a very good case with what I call a soft cardboard-ish feel on the back.

Been carrying mine naked (the phone not me) for 3 days now, I am getting very nervous about it since it is so thin and sooo smooth. My case will be her today and I can breathe again.

Those of you who do this normally...I'm not sure which is bigger your nads or your wallet.

The case I ordered from Amazon (Ringke Fusion Crystal) is not arriving until 12/29, so I'm naked until then. I love how premium the phone feels without a case, but I'm a little too nervous.

I've carried every phone I've had naked from the Treo 650 on. I simply use a belt case to hold it. The only device I had an issue with is my Note 2 which I dropped and got a crack in the screen. Still works though and funny thing is a friend of mine needs it as their main device isn't working anymore. So out of retirement it comes.

My 6p is just fine naked.

I'd love to rock mine naked and generally don't drop my phone but there's always a chance. I'm currently rocking a Ringke Fusion and a Ringke invisible defender screen protector

Well I'm going to be the oddity here - I always have cases on my devices. Why? Because it gives me piece-of-mind (and I won't feel as bad every time it drops to the ground). Cases have saved my devices from damage that would've otherwise killed them - I'm a clumsy person. So yeah, whilst I will be getting a case for the 6P, it won't be a bulky one :P

Same here. I always have a case. I not usually clumsy, but I don't take any chances with my stuff. I work too hard for my money to break my phone just because a case makes it "bulky", or I want to show off the "beauty" of the phone. Secondly, no one cares what my phone looks like. Thirdly, I actually think a case makes it easier to hold.

For those that want to be cool and not use a case, go for it and good luck.

I've been using phones without cases since I had a sidekick. I've never cracked a screen, by dropping it. However I can count on one hand how many times I've dropped my phones over the years. I can't stand the bulk of cases, a naked phone in hand feels the best.

Just got my 6p yesterday and set it up today. Had to get a case. Way to slippery in my hands. Got the Spigen Clear tpu. Does it add some bulk. Yep. But I have big hands. I also can count the times on one hand that I have ever dropped a phone (once that caused damage) in the last six years. But this one is like a wet bar of soap in my hands. So I skinned that bad boy.

To each their own. But most people I know that don't use a case have dinged up phones and cracked screens. You are in the minority.

I usually don't like cases but I'll get one for this phone. Why? You ask. Because I don't like the look of this phone. I love the performance, though.

Google Nexus 6P

I always use cases and screen protectors. I try to have both available when I get the phone so the phone goes from the box to the case, screen protector goes on shortly afterwards. I resale my phones so having cases and screen protectors keep everything in like new condition.

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

Okay. The past few days I've been off work and using it naked, I do use my Spigen Rugged Armor when I go to work.

Anyways, it's amazing since and now I'm thinking about selling my case all together.

My concern is, the Camera/Glass, is it Gorilla Glass 4?

I don't believe so, and from what I've seen on youtube videos it's usually the first glass to break

Re: Nexus 6P - No case (naked)

Not going naked here. Spigen Rugged and Pleson Glass. I went naked for a few days waiting for my case and its so slippery that I almost dropped it a few times. That's saying something since I never drop my phone.

I don't have a 6p but just to let you guys know that I never like to have a phone go naked, especially when i purchased the phone full price. I have a G3 and cost me $285. I always use strong cases like the otterbox because it protects the phone from dropping or when its raining. I let my daughter who is seventh years old to play with my phone and I don't worry of her dropping it. If you paid a lot of money for your phone, it's always recommended to buy a case.
