Long story short, wife hates sprint. Too many dropped calls and slooow data speeds on her ip4s for her to deal with. I have no issues but slow speeds on my GS3 but I know they are improving. She wants vzw yesterday but now wants ME to join her on a "shared data plan". Unlimited mins/txts with 8 gigs of shared data to split. Between the both of us we average about 5-6 gigs of data per month.

If we switch to vzw it WILL be cheaper than if we did a family sprint plan but with network vision in full swing, improving 3g speeds and LTE (For the DC metro) supposedly by mid fall and unlimited data whether we use a lot or not it is hard for me to justify this move.

Will I regret this decision if I say bye to sprint??

Lol....Thanks for the direct response. I'm doing more research on these shared data plans. I like to be truly informed before I make this decision.

You say it's going to be cheaper on VZW with a family plan, but that does not make much sense if your using 3GB each of month. I thought VZW's plan starts with 2GB ...I know AT&T has 2GB and if you want more it's $10.00 additionally for every added 1GB . Their plan is $89.00 for 2GB . Please give more details on the 6GB family plan you are referring to.Correction, the above plan for AT&T is actually 3 GB per one month for $89.99,I miss quoted my partner..:p

With vzw their new shared data allows you unlimited minutes and texts along with a pool of data for up to ten additional devices. So the plan if we choose would be unlimited minutes and texts with 8 gigs of shared data (4 apiece) including the fee for the additional line at 140.00 before tax and employee discount. Thats really not bad considering. Check out their site for more info

Yeah I want to stick it out with sprint but you know she is making it hard for me......lol, I feel like it is a bit of a rip off. I will look more into it before deciding.

No prob, Im gonna look more into this, it just doesnt sound right. Also, although I may not use tons of data it still is nice knowing if I want to, I can. We'll see

I know what you mean our wifes can be hard on us I just think its more in version bc they only allow up to 6 gigs and me and my wife use around 6 to 7 so we would get hit with orveriges

Okay did the research went I went home, the plan breaks down like this. An 8 gig shared data plan (4 gigs to split) with unlimited min/texts for each line will cost $90.00, then there is a $40.00 line access fee for each line (for text/talk/data that Verizon charges) total equipment protection which is optional is 6.99 per device per line and visual voice mail is 2.99 per line (that should be free). It would total 190.00 p/m before taxes so add on another 12-15 bucks for a total of about 205.00 minus a 15% employee discount comes to about 175.00 per month for this plan. However if we go over the pooled data it is 15 bucks per gig.

Because my wife talks a lot and needs unlimited minutes with sprint she is paying 125 per month on sprint with the unlimited everything plan and I pay around 70 on my plan. we would save about 25 bucks a month if we switched but I just don't want to give up unlimited data. In my opinion it is just one of those thing you wish you had when you don't have it anymore, and with LTE on the way, I think I am going to stick it out with sprint. My wife might not be too happy but hey she can get her own plan on verizon. Guess I will be n the couch for a day or two :p

I would stay with Sprint for sure,VZW will Nickle and dime you to death.:D

Yeah, I believe that I will. I dont want to get screwed with overages and have to worry if I will be able to watch videos because of a data cap.

Why don't you have a shared plan on Sprint? You would probably save more money. You have to take in account, once you have faster data, you will probably use more.

I toyed around with switching for a long time, but overall Sprint has been pretty good and I think once we get through this bump in the road with their network we will all be happy.

Yeah I am looking into that as well. I believe for the unlimited everything plan on sprint its 189 plus 10 each for a smartphone fee plus tax which would come out to about 220 with no discount. I would have to get unlimited minutes because my wife still needs the minutes for business calls that are not cells. It would be cheaper to leave it as is. Secondly, I believe that as well. This is growing pains for sprint but once its cleared up, we will be in good shape....I hope

You also receive a 10% discount with Sprint on top of that if you have AAA or belong to a credit union.;)
Oh yeah you also get any mobile to mobile with Sprint.

If you guys were on the 1500 minutes plane thats the family plain it also gives you unlimited text and data and anty cell to cell. so the 1500 which you share is only for landlines so you could get one plain together and only pay about 145.00 that's. what I'm doing but I ask have my mother on my plain wich makes it for me 177.45. so with the family 1500 everything data share plain your save mire bc your also have a discount.

Also, you mentioned a discount with VRZ and not with Sprint. Don't forget that discounts are fairly easy to obtain with Sprint, just google it.

Are there any discounts for a family unlimited plan. It was my understanding sprint offers no discounts on any unlimited plans.
