Will it hurt my EVO to leave it charging with a full battery?

Using my rooted phones WiFi Hotspot for XBOX LIVE is one of my favorite features, I don't even lag at all!

Anyways, I usually just plug my phone into my 360s USB Port because I assume using the hotspot feature will drain my battery. Once my phones fully charged can I just leave it plugged in or is that a bad idea for the long term life of the battery?

After 8 months I havent noticed and battery deterioration...and mine stays plugged up alot because im always using it...

The battery stops charging when the green light comes on and runs off the adapter.

Nope, you will not hurt the battery. I've left all my phones plugged in with no problems. No overheat issues either.....

As long as its not over heating it will be fine just make sure its in a cool place away from sun light.

You can after a while you can over charge the battery cells. The circuit board on your charger is to convert 120v AC power from your wall outlet to 12v DC power to your phone (DC current is why car chargers dont have a circuit board like your home charger) cause a car puts out DC Current which is what your battery and phone needs. batteries operate at D C current. there is no switch to stop a charge on that circuit board. if it is plugged via usb to a p.c or console the current coming out of the usb port varies between 5v dc to 12v dc. But to answer the question it can damage your battery after a while.

that is old tech...

new tech is smarter...
EVO has new tech.

it stops charging when it hits 99.9%.. it never really hits 100%..that is bad because that is bad for the phone.
then the current is stopped from the outlet.
phone runs on batteries till it drops to about 95%, then its starts charging again.

ever noticed why your evos.. after a full nights recharge.. sometimes it drops to 94-96% with in only 10-15 mins after disconnecting it? because you just unplugged it.. right before it started recharging again. It only takes the evo to fully recharge in 2-3 hrs.

so.. leaving it plugged in will not hurt the battery.
over heating is a big problem: while the phone is doing: wifi, tether, data network, and charging will add heat.. keep that in mind
heat is bad for a lot of things .. in the phone .. including the battery.

Download CurrentWidget from the market. It gives you a view of how much is going in during a charge. It'll also show you how the power input drops when it gets up to full power.
