Will my new EVO do this: orange blink for new mail, green for new text msg?

Why the ____ is there a light on the Evo that HTC doesn't use for anything?? It does work though. There really is another light there.

Here's something that might work, if you have the handcent app in the notification settings you can change the color of the led from green to Amber (even though that would be the color to let you know your battery is going low also) but you can keep your email green and text as Amber. You can also change the blink frequency from solid, slow, normal, or fast so you can keep solid Amber or Green for text and blinking Green for email or play around with it.

By the way..where does it say that this LED was for Wimax. I looked in the manual and it doesn't even point out that LED at all.

Works great but kind of redundant. So now when I get a text I have 2 LED's blinking. There's no way to disable the standard left LED without disabling the complete notification including sound and vibration notification. I can see it being useful when you're charging and the left LED is solid amber which doesn't change when you get email or SMS.

I am a bit confused... on the EVO you cant change the color of the main LED to whatever you want for each type of notification?

On both my Droid and Droid X i have colors set up for each type of notification... even different color LED for different email addresses.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but these are the only 2 android devices i have used.

Nope. Its amber when charging, solid green when fully charged. Blinks green when you have email, sms, or mms. But when its charging(solid amber) or fully charged(solid green) it wont blink to notify you of new sms, mms, or email. So this would be useful for that.
