Will my RAZR MAXX have ICS 4.0.4 before my Galaxy Nexus?

Because it does clutter and bog things down. Oh and guess what, I've had to endure Blur through the various incarnations of the Motorola Droid phones. I'm glad you are happy and satisfied with it. That is probably the only accurate statement you've made so far. Because you have no problem with Blur does not mean others have to share your opinion of it. I actually don't care what you say about ICS one way or the other.

The newest version of blur does not bog things down at all.

That's good to know. Is that the final release version, or one of the versions that has been snuck out?

Sorry, I meant the version that the razrs have. The ICS version is supposed to be extremely snappy though.

Okay, good to know. But, it still has Blur, or whatever the heck Motorola calls it now?

I still stand behind what is out there. Anyone who goes and researches this phone before buying understands what it is...a stripped down root able and unlock able phone. Any other answer is ridiculous....and anyone who says it is going to get the fastest updates and the most recent has thus done some homework before purchase to even gather that knowledge. Did Verizon ever state that it would be updated first or the fastest? Let alone ever make a statement they would support it past release? Again it is possible to have the latest update if you so chose to...and in a short time this is all a moot point as we should have 4.0.5 as an ota.... again for those who wait you will still be ahead of the curve. On the subject of bugs...or glitches with this phone sure there are some but certainly nothing that allows the phone to be unusable...on its worst day its still a great phone that enjoy using. I never was drawn to android or iOS before as I never thought they could give me what I wanted which was something close the the experience I got for business on my blackberry. ICS has closed that gap and is very easy to use.

So you cannot show the intended purpose. Funny how you want others to show proof of what they said and you cannot meet the standard you hold us to. Everybody has an opinion, just like other things in life.

The intended purpose is in the hands of the owner? Is it not? The idea of buying a Nexus any Nexus not just the Galaxy Nexus is too root and flash different roms be it factory or not. Everyone on here certainly knows this...but if you don't chose too thats fine too...nothing wrong with that at all. My friend has a Nexus because he saw mine and returned his Droid RAZR for it. He is not rooted nor does he have an unlocked bootloader...and he couldn't be happier with his phone. For the purpose he needs it for it works fine and does what he needs. Purpose is in the eye of the beholder. :)

Uhhh... no!

Kind of trying to play both sides of the fence aren't you? In the first part of your post, you are trying to claim that the purpose of the phone is for rooting and adding or changing roms, then you say that the purpose is in the eye of the beholder.

I think you are confusing the opinions of some GN owners in this forum with what the intent of Google are.

I don't know this and to be honest you're the first I've ever heard say that the purpose of the Galaxy Nexus is to root and flash different roms (possible yes, its purpose...never heard that). I bought it for all the features Google advertised it with and none of those "features" were rooting an loading roms.

As I have stated before I did buy into the hype on this forum, which weighed into my decision to buy the phone, that the phone would be getting fast updates directly from Google. This was obviously my mistake in listening to those like you that actually have no idea what they are talking about and like to use hyperbole to make it appear you know something about a given subject.

I agree with what you are and have been saying 100%.

To be honest...I think the real purpose of a Nexus device if for app developers to have a test platform. Or for folks that actually work on the Android AOSP to test and maybe add new features to the AOSP source. At the same time...I swear I remember something making it to the Android source after it was put in a custom ROM by Cyanogen, long before he started working for Samsung, was before Honeycomb and maybe Gingerbread came out...might be mistaken tho...

On that note I'm sure Google likes the folks who make custom ROMs, just to get ideas.

Like someone mentioned....getting an Android phone doesnt mean we are supposed to root it, but its like an unspoken rule that you have to or are supposed to. I have a Rezound, got it on 1-14...and have yet to root it. I did root my RAZR, had it since 11-11. But have yet to put any ROMs on it. I have a Droid 1 and Droid X1. I stop running ROMs on my Droid 1 after Froyo released....that was 2010. And I didnt put one on my X until Dec 2010...and I got the phone in July. I eventually went back to stock and it stayed that ever since.

Some of us have to remember our own wants dont necessarily mean thats how its supped to be for everyone. Take the general public....how many do you think even know what root or a bootloader is? They got the G Nex cuz it was the latest n greatest when it launched, thats it. Nothing more.

The Galaxy Nexus is a developers phone and only people who take the time to learn how to easily root the phone will enjoy the full benefits and power of the device. The Nexus is the most amazing phone I've ever used and before I rooted I was worried about when I would see my next official google update. Let me tell you that this particular phone has an amazing development community and new custom ROM's are in the forums every other day. If your still on stock and waiting for the next update, enjoy your wait while I flash between plenty of different 4.0.4 updates with different customizations and performance enhancements. Also once rooted you can always flash back to stock and re-lock the bootloader at any point.

So this my question. If my phone works, and your phone doesn't work, and google updates all of our phones to fix your device's problems. what do you think would happen to the phones that already work right? :)

Of course, CDMA Galaxy Nexus probably won't get an official 4.0.4

That being said, if you're SOOOOOOOOOO worried about having an incremental update (omg my dock that nobody bought doesn't work, I only have 2 bars of service while my razr has 3 but they actually have the same dbm, my phone doesn't rotate1/10th of a second faster), do it yourself and stop complaining. It is out there if you want it.

You can't trust a carrier to get anything done properly, hence why I wanted a Nexus phone - unlockable bootloader and a great rom community.

...you are aware that the cdma gnex does have radio updates that haven't reached the rom community yet. the kernel source isn't up on the AOSP page.

nothing since you are oblivious to known issues :)

No I'm not oblivious I just chose to root and fix my problems. Instead of waiting for somebody to do it for me. :)

Of course, there's also the angle that this was sold as a developer's phone. As a developer, I know that if I root and rom, then the apps I'm testing can only be verified to work on phones that have been rooted and rommed, correct?

True. Now where does it say all that get a g nex have to root, run custom roms? Couldn't an app developer, ROM maker have specific ppl test for them? Like the manufactures do?

My issue is with ppl that feel the sole purpose of a g nex is root and custom ROMs. Its a developer phone, but it isn't marketed that way.

The closest thing I can compare this to is over clocking CPUs, mobo, BIOS. If all 3 are shipped in a PC from Dell, do that mean everyone who gets one is supposed to over clock it? Or is it for the select that know how or want to know how?
