Will the Nexus 6P work on Verizon?

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

I just ordered my Nano SIM straight through the chat on verizonwireless.com. I simply said that I just ordered a Nexus (didn't specify, just said Nexus) and I need a Nano SIM. They took care of it immediately. Only asked where I would like it shipped and which e-mail address I would like to use for e-mail updates. Not sure if I was just lucky, but completely painless.

Pretty clever.

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

Good point. I hate Verizon but unfortunately they do have the best coverage . Also hate to admit, but I've never had a bad experience with customer service.

Then why do you hate them? Admittedly the best coverage, and you've had good customer service. Hate seems like a pretty strong word to put on a company that has fully met your needs.

I've been a long-time VZW customer, so my ONLY complaint has been the lockdown on what phones you could use with the network. Now it looks like the company has done a complete 180 degree turn, and they are now no longer giving a rip about phones, and moving away from subsidies altogether. Took them long enough, but they finally figured out it's better to allow EVERY phone you can to increase the subscription numbers since phone hardware sales figures are a drop in the bucket.

He is following the pack, everybody else says they hate them so.....

I love Verizon :) for more than one reason. Main thing is it just works for me. I'm. Way happier than most I know that are with other providers.

Yea I guess that was a dumb statement by me. My main reason was cost of plans and phone selection. I hope they continue the route of allowing unlocked devices.

Kind of a dumb statement I made ☺
Don't really hate them, just that their phone selection is not always that great. Maybe that's changing and they will allow unlocked devices.

Yeah mine was a dumb statement also, kinda put words in your mouth.

Enjoy your Nexus, at Verizon is doing it right with this one.

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

So I'll speak in generalities here, as your mileage may vary from store to store, and rep to rep, but....going into a store a corp. store, you won't get someone that will just give you a new sim card unless you get a newb. Also, the card has to be activated with a device that uses the same sim card, unless you find someone that knows a round about way to activate it without compatible equipment.

I also know as of right now you can only bring in an Apple iPhone 6/6s, Nexus 6 from another carrier as long as the phone has been paid off from the other respected carrier to activate on Verizon.

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

I walked in to my local corporate store yesterday and asked the 4 people that were standing at the front door. I said "I have a Moto X, just bought a 6P, so when it comes I can just swap my sim over and be fine, right?" they all looked at me and said "yeah, you shouldn't run in to any problems"

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

Based on all the inconsistent experiences people seem to be having, I'm starting to think my best bet will be to take my husband's iPhone 6, which is on my Verizon account, into a store and tell them we're switching it to my line to get a new nano sim activated for me, then give him his phone back and pop the new sim card into my 6P (assuming I get one). Anyone know of any reason that wouldn't work? Seems like it might help avoid the hassles of switching from my micro sim G2.

BTW, fellow Beaver here. Thought I'd say hi and commiserate over officially being in the basement. I can't even muster a heartfelt "Go Beavs" today. :(

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

Ya I agree. It's made out to seem so easy but it's not. I tried getting one via chat and got told my account was marked (guessing this happened the first time I asked for a new sim) and I would have to Cale their sales department to place an order. I tried chatting 5 different times and got redirected to the sales department which wasn't picking up?

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

FYI, been reading over on the Reddit 6P forum that the Nexus 6P is indeed whitelisted in Verizon's database. Hopefully, this is true, so great news! :)
I got my new VZW nano-sim last week so all I need is my 6P phone, which is shipping a week from today... woo hoo!

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

So we have to get a nano-sim from Verizon if we want the 6P? Is this safe for us unlimited users?

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

I activated a new SIM from Verizon with no problems. UDP is intact.

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

FWIW, I did a chat today with Verizon asking a out nano sim cards (I've a micro with my galaxy 5) and she said to bring the phone in when I get it and they will hook me up with a nano sim and make sure it's all activated. Free of charge. We will see I guess.

This is what I was wondering. I'd prefer to buy from Verizon at the subsidized price.

Possibly... I just don't know if it will ever be on Verizon (or any US carrier), as last year's Nexus 6 launch, their product page showed all 4 US carriers and Google specifically stated the N6 will eventually be out, just a couple months after the Playstore preorder/launch.

Seeing nothing of this for the Nexus 5x/6p, I'm not holding my breath Google will allow US carriers to sell them. I mean, even last year during the initial N6 launch, I visited my local VZW store and they told me several times(employee and manager) that they would NOT be selling the N6 and that it wouldn't work on VZW if I bought one off the Playstore. Well, I did buy one and walked in with my nano-SIM from previous phone and showed them. They were dumbfounded and then in Jan/Feb '15, their store sold them?! lol...

I think if you can't afford the full price for the 6p, buy from Hauwei or Fi and do the financing option...Sounds like your best bet at this point.
