Will the US Unlocked HTC 10 model work on Verizon?

I was wondering if the Unlocked model is like the Moto X Pure that includes the bands for all US carriers including Verizon. I'm really hoping I can get this model without the bloat! The Moto X Pure has spoiled me.

If you go to the website it shows it as having those bands however it does say that the unlocked version is for Tmob and Att so I wouldn't buy it thinking it will be fully compatible since it says in writing on their site that Verizon and Sprint versions will be available through the carrier.

I'm still buying the unlocked model. I will put my Verizon sim in it to see what happens. If I have full capabilities then I'll keep it. If it doesn't then I will send it back. Simple as that. I would like to think that it will function just like the unlocked Nexus 6 did initially on Verizon. It showed up as a Non VZW Device but still worked.

I'm reading this as the unlocked is only for GSM-based carriers and that there will eventually be a carrier models for Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

The Unlocked version is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile. The HTC 10 will be available for Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint soon.

Unlocked ok for VZW?

I'm trying to figure out if the unlocked HTC10 from HTC's website will work on VZW's network. I hate branded phones, and would love to just buy the unlocked version, if it will work on Verizon.
Here are the radio specs for the phone:

2G/2.5G - GSM/GPRS/EDGE,
850/900/1800/1900 MHz,
CDMA: 800/1900 with EVDO Rev A,
3G UMTS,
850/AWS/900/1900/2100 MHz,
4G LTE (up to 450Mbps),
FDD: Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 20, 28, 29, 30,
Support Cat 9 LTE, download up to 450 Mbps, upload up to 50 Mbps

Based on the table below compared with these specs, it looks to me like probably it might work, but with limited connectivity some times. Any experts out there that agree or disagree with this?
The 700MHz band noted as their "main LTE" band is missing entirely, so that's not good. Looks like 1900 EVDO might work though, but may have an end in sight if they are allocating that to LTE, but then that might be a good thing? Then again I'm not even sure if this 1900MHz listed under CDMA in the phone specs is the same (protocol?) as that listed in the wikipedia table.

If there are any experts on network settings, frequencies, protocols, etc. out there who could provide some insight as to what might be missing (functionally) or what might be coming, ... I'd greatly appreciate it.

From everything I've seen, it's not for Verizon, yet. I wouldn't buy any phone that might sometimes have connectivity issues. They will have a version for Verizon and Sprint soon.... (Unlocked? Not sure, but probably).....Patience!

All signs point to no.

I'm assuming the tech specs are for the device overall.

There wouldn't be a blurb about Sprint needed a different phone if the unlocked one worked on Verizon and Sprint.

Well, I agree with both you guys, but... I just did an online chat with HTC. Here's a screen shot of the transcript:

So they are saying that the only difference between the currently available "unlocked" version and the forthcoming "verizon" branded version, is that the branded version will have all the VZW crap er, apps! installed on it. The hardware will remain the same. Hmmm tempting to get one just to see. Wonder what the return policy is? I should have asked!

A Verizon SIM will not work in the unlocked model. The Verizon 10 will have different software than the unlocked variant. Not significantly different, but enough to impair function. You'll have to be patient; it is coming to Verizon.

I had a chat with HTC today and they stated," The unlocked version is intended to work with any network, so it should work on the Verizon Network. The carrier phone will also be available for Verizon soon."

So, I have a little hope that the unlocked variant will work on big red.

The listed specs don't line up well with Verizon's published bands/frequencies. I'm no expert on what each frequency band is used for, but it seems like there's very little overlap between the listed specs for the phone, and the published bands for VZW.

Oh, and it's not about patience for the VZW version. I am in no hurry. I just want an unlocked, un-branded phone without the big-Red bloat. Something akin to the Moto X line. Maybe I should just get a MX-Pure afterall... so big though.

I'm also on Verizon and I just received one in mail today - shipping only through BB. I was hoping to get m10 (pre order) and return XPE if all works well on network , but seems like but happening. The only think I don't like about Moto is average battery life and the size. My OG is really giving up and I can't wait until autumn to see what is coming from Lenovo or any other OEM at 5in. Plus to be factory unlocked - not buying vzw branded ever again

Eh? The bands line up perfectly. Has the CDMA bands, as well as LTE bands 4 and 13. Clearly it will work. You may not be able to activate a new line on it, but if you take a pre activated vzw Sim and drop it in, it will work fine. Might even get wifi calling and VoLTE...

The correct bands are listed for Verizon support. I would find it hard to believe they would block this phone versus a nexus device or unlocked Moto device. Russell Holly even got an unlocked Priv to work fine on Verizon before the phone was released by them when everyone said that phone was not supported. It's interesting to say the least.

Might be hard to believe, but at least right now that's exactly what they're doing. I assume HTC is only building one physical US design to save money, that's why all the bands are included.

Not to mention, Sprint which uses CDMA just like Verizon has a new LTE Plus Network. Their phones must have the proper radio to support their LTE Plus Network. HTC included the CDMA bands and radios in the unlocked version as well, that's why it's so strange that the phone won't connect to the Verizon network. But whatever the reason, it's been confirmed, it won't connect. I do wish I knew why though.

Making a single hardware variant makes sense for HTC though. Simplifies things for them when all they have to do to change allocations is change the software being flashed to the device and throw it in a different box. And maybe attach a few extra Verizon stickers anyway

It also lists support for CDMA EvDo Rev A, 850 and 1900, which are used by vzw and Sprint. It also supports LTE bands 25, 26, and 41, which Sprint uses. It also has a cat9 modem, which is what's required for the 3CA LTE plus that Sprint uses.

This is not a hardware issue...totally about Carrier and handset mfg cooperation.

Russell works here at Android Central and according to him he had no limited capabilities. The bands are listed meaning the phone has those radios built into them. Now whether Verizon has black listed a number of IMEI's they know to be unlocked phones is another case. When I first purchased my Nexus 6 it worked fine on Verizon for months until they finally sold the phone themselves. It was listed on my account as a non supported Verizon device. No hindrance or missing features it worked just as it should. Good luck trying to activate it as a new device but if you had an activated SIM card no problem. I regularly was able to swap between my iPhone 6 at the time and Moto Nexus 6 no issues.
