Will the US Unlocked HTC 10 model work on Verizon?

Now there is ONE time I attempted something crazy. I used 1 TB (all phone data since I can't do more than 7 GB tether) .. Nothing happened. (Link: http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon/388159-terabyte-club-3.html#post3669274)

One of our mods on Verizon (dpham) with the unlimited hotspot add-on pushed the limits of Verizon and used 5 TB .. nothing happened to him either. (Link: http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon/388159-terabyte-club-3.html#post3700577)

We did it mainly for the purpose of seeing if they punched us in the face lol :).

I seeeeeeeeeeeee.... LOL!

[hulk]puny god[/hulk]...I use about 2GB a month. LOL! But I pirate a signal at work.

The main reason I average around 30-50 a month now-a-days is due to the wifi at work being horrendous. It can barley handle music so .. I just use LTE at my desk. Otherwise my usage would actually be pretty light.

Understood. Its the nice thing having a badge encoded to let you in the computer room... ;-)

That and a certain "moral flexibility"...

Yeah I stream alot of videos from my Plex server/Netflix/Amazon Prime, Download games on playstation when I bring it in, Alot of Roms when on and Android device. You know the usual. I work in IT so it also powers my iPad's internet connection so I can remote in and repair peeps machines. Its basiclly my lifeline. Going to cancel my order of unlocked, and wait till the VZW version is rooted. I love xposed and many other tweaks and playing with Roms etc... but I jailbreak (when on iphone) and Root for the hotspot functionality first.

That's amazing. 5TB of data and they didn't do anything to you guys! I love it!

Thats big red, always making things difficult. Instead of just one device, they want a separate device from HTC then people need to pick which one they want. I want an unlocked on since I do travel overseas and I will not pay VZW prices for their plans. $40/month for 100MB, 250SMS/250 minutes talk time. Or I can get a 3GB plan in the UK for $35 and use FB messenger to make calls and talk to people.

I thought the 10 came with global mode. In which case a foreign sim would work, no? If no global mode then Verizon really did take a step back.

I did 60GB last month. Usually average anywhere between 40-60GB a month. They will have to pry my Grandfathered UDp out of my cold dead hands :) (Which I am sure they will find a way to do eveantually)

I don't use as much data as you but same here I'm not giving up my unlimited data plan. I made the mistake of giving it up on my daughter's phone couple years ago I don't use as much date it as you but same here I'm not giving up my unlimited data plan. I made the mistake of giving it up on my daughters phone couple years ago and I've been paying for it ever since.
I do get a special rate for her because I complained when her daughter went way up so I was getting 6 Gigabytes for the price of 2 and I recently upgraded that so that she gets 8 gigabytes for like $10 more. They only gave away those special plants for people who came off Unlimited she can also tether now but I won't tell her because she'll end up using more data on me

They cannot block an already active SIM from working in a device as long as it has the radios. Technically Verizon isn't obligated to activate a brand new SIM / Plan on a device they don't want to... that is the "loophole" for them.

Except it sounds like they are blocking the unlocked HTC10, even when used with an already active VZW sim card....

I had this problem with my wife's iPhone which was an unlocked version from the Apple store. VZW wouldn't activate it for us. I took it to a non-corporate VZW store (franchise) and they were cool. They allowed me to activate the new sim on another phone (mine), then move it to her iPhone. I had to re-activate a sim on my phone then, but it worked.

But if what people are saying is true, this is a whole new level of blocking -- that you can't even use an already activated sim on the unlocked HTC10. If true, that sucks.

If not true, then what I might do is buy the unlocked htc10 online, go into a corporate store, buy some cheap phone with the correct sim slot, and activate a new sim on it for my account. Pay them, say "thank you!" then stand there in the VZW store, pop out the sim, put it in the HTC10, then walk back to the counter and ask to return the other phone.

Don't bother trying, wasting money and time, bc many reviewers and guys on XDA forums failed in their attempts.

It is my understanding that Verizon cannot legally block usage of the phone on its network unless the phone is causing damage to its network. However htc can block Verizon sim card from working.

Re: LTE Bands the Verizon model has in common with the Unlocked model

I managed to get LTE working on the unlocked version on Verizon's network. The phone also dectes the network and you can get online. Just no service for Calls/messages.

What did you do to get that done?

Re: LTE Bands the Verizon model has in common with the Unlocked model

With an activated sim already, type in *#*#4636#*#*

Then you can select the network preference you want to use. If you choose LTE only, it should allow the data to work. Since i was borrowing a sim I cannot mess around a bit more with the CDMA right now, but i will try to get another and see what i can do on that aspect. Also, For my version, the option with LTE,CDMA was not selectable. Maybe thats why Verizon is getting blocked.

Re: LTE Bands the Verizon model has in common with the Unlocked model

Also, if someone has a verizon version, Could you post a SS of that page? :D I want to see what setting they have on there and see what can be done. I really am hoping to keep this phone. :D

Which lte band? Verizon uses lte bands 2, 4, and 13. The unlocked verison supports lte bands 2 and 4.

You can use an app like lte discovery or signal check to see which band you are on.

Re: LTE Bands the Verizon model has in common with the Unlocked model

Not so sure. I haven't installed anything on the phone on the chance that I may have to return it if i don't get full function off of it. All I know is, the phone recognized the network, and was connected and I got data. but could not make calls or text. Oddly enough, in the settings, you could choose any of the options of the network preference except LTE/CDMA. You could choose LTE only, or CDMA only, but not the one with both. I will try to get another Sim and see what i can do tomorrow though.

Re: LTE Bands the Verizon model has in common with the Unlocked model

Under the LTE Discovery, Under signals, it says Band 13. (I assume that is what you want.)
