Will you be 'casing' your X?!?!

A silicone case is easy enough to slide on and off too for docking.

That's what I'm thinking and they are pretty cheap as well. I want to get one of the Golla bags as well. I know they are girly and kinda cheesy looking but well....I'm a girl so I can get away with it. I want to be able to just clip it on my purse or diaper bag so I don't have to put it in the "abyss" and risk scratches. Also, I like that I can wear it around my neck when I am out walking or riding my bike and be able to track my routes with an app.

I was thinking about trying to find some kind of sleeve or something for my pocket so that it doesn't get lint or dust under the casing or in the buttons or anything. I remember that when I bought my BlackBerrys new, they came with a leather pouch but I bought my Droid used so I don't know if they ship with anything like that or not.

Hopefully there stuff will be out soon cuz they have nice cases and are typically not bulky. They just recently added a page for the Droid X.

I kind of like the idea of leaving a phone naked...but that first scratch always kills me. Because of the screen size and potential to watch video, I thought about getting one of the cases that Verizon is going to be selling on launch day - the leather wrapped snap on case with a kickstand.

...I guess if there are issues with speakerphone being muffled, that would take care of it too...?

That being said, I have pre-ordered a Zagg Invisible Shield for the X because it's an awesome product and keeps my screens in perfect condition. I have applied one to my last 5 phones and some friend's phones, so I'm good at it now. Might as well slap one on and not sweat the small stuff.

I'll get a screen protector for sure, but I'm on the fence about a case. :P I'm crazy about protecting my phone, but I also appreciate the smaller size w/o one.

I have used Otterbox cases on my current phone and the previous one (both BB). I am in an industrial environment and the cases have saved my bacon on more than one occasion. I also ride a motorcycle nearly every day and either toss my phone in a bag on the rear rack or into a backpack. The OB case provides good protection all around.

That said, OB cases add significant size to the phone and the X is not a small one to start with. I will have to be careful and review the available protection options as they come out.

Everyone seems to like the idea of going naked with their devices until they drop it the nighttime and then with they had bought something to protect it. The phone doesn't have to break to ruin the experience for me. Ugly scratches can ruin a phone for me. I can deal (sometimes) with small scratches. But not huge ones. I have to at least put a skin on mine. I try to find one that doesn't add too much bulk and that doesn't take away from the aesthetics if the device. But there needs to be a skin of some sort on my smartphone.

Depends on what comes out. If a case that is ultra slim and protective comes out than yes. But nothing like an Otterbox case. Too thick.

I'm thinking I'll just use a screen protector. As the one poster said "insurance is my friend". But, in this case with the Google interface, most of my stuff is backed up server side, so restoring wouldn't be that big of a job, I wouldn't think.
That said, I have used Sprite backup before and it was a bigtime saver. Had it for a Motorola Q. I think I'll invest in that program again for this phone. I like once I get my stuff the way I want it to get it restored that way again.
I'm generally not too hard on phones but, once I dropped my Q in a cup of coffee in my truck....end result was not good.

I'll be putting a Zagg screen guard on the front and some of that 3M carbon Fiber stuff on the battery door.

Man, you and I agree on just about everything lol.

As some of you may or may not know, one of my other passions is hiking, so I will probably get one of the hardcore waterproof cases to protect it when I'm outdoors. I'll also use it for all the air travel I do as well. Aside from that, I want it to look exactly like it does when it comes out of the box.

Actually guys the screen protectors that verizon is selling for the x are awesome. Brand new design, great feel and they resist oil and finger prints like no other....I promise you! The protectors for the incredible caused some "sticky" drag, and showed oil and finger printslike no other. Its cheap insurance, and this type actually helps keep the screen clean.
Corry,
Didn't know you were a hiker, up for some mountaineering? May be headed out west soOn and I will have something new with me that you will want to see. I send you an email with details.

Definitely! It doesn't get any better in the northwest than this time of year.

I'm sorry, but if you don't put a case on your phone, you're stupid. One drop can crack the screen and you're ****ed. Cover it up. There are nice cases out there. Sure, nothing beats the look of a naked phone but come on. I see so many people break their phones because of no case.

I don't know that I'd go that far. Yes, we are obviously increasing the risk of damaging the phone if we drop it, but I personally have never cased any of my phones, nor have I dropped one in the 8 years I've owned them. I treat my phones more like nursescott mentioned in the post above.

Having said that, if I did order one, it would probably be the Sena Ultra Slim Pouch.

Girl I so know how you feel, I have a 8,7 and 3 yr old! My 3 yr old gets into more stuff then my older two did together and they are only 14 months apart!! LOL
I have a silicone case on my ipod touch and it is great! I plan on getting one for the X too!! My 3 yr old son loves to play on my ipod and has dropped it a couple times and it has had no ill effects!! I have a golla bag for my Blackberry too. I used it for awhile but then got sick of it. I might try it again for the X with a case.... it will be easier to grab with a case on it!

I see you drive your Mustand in the snow. Quite slippery, no? Do you have snow tires on that? Doubt it. But I'm sure you have insurance.
