While it is offered at a good price I personally see no need for it as I'm around wifi pretty much anywhere I go on a consistent basis.

I'll definitely be paying for it. My only internet is with the air card, so why pay $59.99 when I can only pay $29.99. Even after I get charged the ETF for canceling the air card, I'll still be ahead.

"F" Sprint and their $29.00 charge. I have been a loyal customer for almost ten years and that means I have been a loyal customer through some really BAD customer service times AND wireless coverage times also. But I am still here even through all of the crappy wireless coverage and other issues. Now I am being forced to pay $10.00 more for a service when my location isn't even on the list of cities to get the service. So at this point I have no clue when I will ever see 4G service. That being said Sprint has "re-branded" the $10.00 charge as a internet upgrade fee to truly unlimited? OK since I am being forced to pay the fee I am going to root my phone and set up my WIFI tether on my own and truly put to the test the "UNLIMITED" data service. Like I said I have been loyal through some really crappy times with Sprint only to be treated like a Verizon customer, not going for it. Oh and BTW during most of those times the phone selection sucked and I kept lusting over the Verizon selection so keep adding the charges Sprint and you will find my saying "Can you hear me now" as I sign with Verizon. Hell if I am going to be treated like a Verizon customer with the high charges I might as well have their kick ass coverage area.

No but rooting will be the way

:rolleyes:What on Earth makes you think that the Evo will get the 2.2 (Froyo) update anytime soon? Look at their history getting the Hero updated. Not to great! I have a feeling that the dev's will have Froyo on rooted Evo's WAY before Sprint does. It will take Sprint so long to figure out a way to disable the tethering in Froyo.

No but I bet we will have a fully functional (With hotspot tether) root of 2.2 for the EVO in no less than a month (If not sooner) when 2.2 is leaked :-) and yes I will be rooting. Sprint needs to learn that with Android phones they cant keep us down. If we want it we will get it. So my motto charge me fairly I'll pay. Treat me as a Verizon customer, root cures all.

no. but i will consider it when they eventually lower the price. my guess is that you'll see $10-$15 in the next year and maybe even included "free" along with the 4G with the $99 plans.

I think I'm with a lot of people, I'm just going to root the phone and get free teathering. Then when Froyo comes out, use a ROM that has it enabled for free.

I will spend the money. I travel for work (gone about six months out of the year) and I currently have an aircard (one of the older "unlimited" plans). As soon as I can, I'll drop that card and save $30 a month.

Lets be clear, I will be getting the WiFi Hot Spot feature but I won't be paying Sprint $30/month for it. The extra $10 is enough so I will be rooting and using a non-Sprint option.

And, I will be canceling my datacard plan so Sprint will end up giving up money due to their ill advised pricing plans.

couldn't have said it any better :)
