I have rooted every android device I own with the exception of the tab s2. I had no intention of rooting my N7 since it was that good. on the fence this time about rooting until I get my hands on it. what will you do with your N8 root it or leave it alone?

I have no reason to root anymore. Everything I need is either already baked in, or Nova gets me there.

Is there even a point of rooting anymore?
In the 90's yeah to unlocks some extra features but now it seems you can do a lot of the same things now without root

I remember rooting my first flip phone in '96 to prevent "traveling" charges on Sprint.

90's?? Did you travel back in time with your HTC Evo lol?

I've rooted every phone I've had mostly to get rid of the bloat ware. I have up and left it alone on my s7edge. will leave it alone with the note 8.

leave it alone .....

Rooting sucked for me. most of the time there are all sorts of bugs and crap that go un-fixed, newer phones come out and they stop updating the builds ota updates are disabled, etc. In my experience, just to get rid of the bloat wasn't worth all the extra baggage you have to worry about with a hacked image. I trust Samsung engineers over some kid in his bedroom eating nachos. My 2c.
