I wish i could say that my old phone is sorry, but i love my Motorola Droid, but the Incredible has it beat hands down

Aww yeeeeeeah!

I'm rockin' the ?ber-sexy Samsung SPH-M520 slider phone from Sprint. This bad boy showcases an assisted slider mechanism, a brilliant mirror silver upper, contrasted with a flat pewter base. The slider hook is fashionably broken half-off, to give it a more vintage look, and is further enhanced by screen scratches and edge wear.

But that's not all, oh no. Not only does it look vintage, but due to brilliant slider design, it now has vertical scratches across the camera lens so even the photos come out lookin like old school scratched 35mm! Hot, I know.

So, considering this proverbial flock of fantastic features, a full 12-key back-lit keypad, and it's brilliant 320x240 screen, it will be a hard phone to trade in for your Incredible, but I guess I'd be willing to give it a shot...

cheers.

My current phone -> an aging, sorry to see you in this state, motionless, accelerometer less, slow, stylus ridden Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a. The silver color is flaking off, the backplate has bent and warped due to the number of resets required, new ROMs are desperately clutched at to ensure relevance, but through it all it is still an aging non-connected, non-capacitive Windows Mobile Phone.

The Droids shall win, Why resist?

Been Lurking here for a few weeks but just now decided to join.

Just under two years ago I was perfectly happy rockin my Motorola V555 dumbphone. My girlfriend at the time wanted a "smartphone" "cause it was pretty." My argument was that I've had my V555 forever it worked for whatever I wanted it to do and we didn't really need smartphones. She persisted and ordered the HTC PPC6700 from ebay. She walked into Bestbuy and in her best techie voice asked to the see the "HTC P P C 6700" she then told the clerk that she "just wanted to see it" as she had already ordered one. She hated the thing and had problems with I think the PRLs loading right and staying set right. I was victorious with my Moto V555 - "see you don't need the headaches of that smartphone stuff" She ordered a Moto Q from Ebay because she was still under 2 yr. contract from the last pretty pink dumbphone she upgraded to a year before this saga started. About a month later it was my birthday so after weeks and weeks of research I reluctantly said good by to my Moto V555 and upgraded to the Blackberry Curve. I LOVED THIS thing!! Played on Crackberry almost daily downloaded a few apps and it was the frequent go to phone in the car - streaming music on road trips - google maps - we could even find the closest Applebees when traveling (Couple Retreat Reference). Anyway...she finally hit her 20 month renewal several months later and upgarded to the Curve. She could finally play brick breaker on her own phone. We would frequently trade off when traveling when either had issues with our trackball or couldn't get an app to work right. A few months ago we got engaged. A few weeks ago I started looking at upgrading my phone - perhaps it was all that droid marketing - perhaps after almost two years I'm just ready for a fresh OS - perhaps hopefully by 2.1 OS a lot of the bugs have been worked out. I almost got a Droid but the dummy unit's keyboard seemed to slide unevenly - it just appeared beat up. I went looking on line for the upcoming devices -thought seriously about holding out for the rumored blackberry slider. I found the reviews and specs on the Incredible. It was like this big bright light came on and I could hear angels singing...this was it! For a brief momemt of insanity I even joined those other forums that have several hundreds of pages in one topic discussing it's release. I've posted a few times and shared my excitement with my now finace' - "Oh look honey check out this video of the Sense UI built in to it" - "look at this friendstream app" "look at this app I found that will remind you to get the milk when the GPS senses that you are at the grocery store" ..."it even has TV out and there is an app from Direct TV that will allow me to watch the football games this year." She has been nothing but supportive and equally excited ..."which is better Ghost Armor or Zagg" - "where do you get the cable for the TV out and how do we add the extra part of the Sunday Ticket." "any accessories you can hold off till father's day?" We signed up for Appbrain and picked apps out...updated my contacts in Gmail and I even registured my real name at Facebook (just wasn't into facebook if you've seen that episode of South Park) The only problem is she is not eligible for upgrade for several months yet. Verizon won't push up her new every 2 and the only way to get her one of these phones it full retail. With planning a wedding and all ...besides over $500 for a phone is just not in our budget. Please pick this entry to win not for me but for her. We would love to be able for her to have this phone and leave that Curve behind.

Currently on a BB Storm 1. It does have many useful features, but it cannot keep up with my growing demands. Web browser is awful and the app availability and pricing are a joke.

It's not my Hero

You want a sad story? I have a sad story.
(Queue the violins)

In November of 2009 I was eligible for an upgrade discount from my Blackberry Curve 8300 on Sprint. The Sprint isn't the saddest part of the story.

I was troubled. Should I get the Moment or the Hero? I was coming from a physical keyboard and was leaning toward the Moment, but HTC's Sense UI looked so nice.

I bit the speeding bullet and bought the Hero. With what turned out to be a not so much a leap of a tall building, but a short learning curve, I became familiar and actually liked the soft keyboard that I had chosen.

But there was evil afoot. My Hero went Bizarro. What was supposed to help me became my nemesis. Over the course of a few weeks, my Hero wasn?t there when I needed it. Calls for help would come in, and it wouldn?t answer. When I looked to it for guidance, it would decide that it needed to restart its day. On a trip out of town, it wasn?t there for me 5 times between when my plane landed at 2:30pm and 5:30pm.

I called HQ (Sprint) and was told that they could send me a new Hero or I could visit the local outpost. I found the HQ outpost with the appropriate abilities (service tech) and began my trek.

After waiting for about 30 minutes the local contact told me that they would have to look into the problem and that it would take them an hour. I decided to venture outside and become familiar with my surroundings.

When the deadline had passed, I found my way back to HQ where I was told that they didn't know how to fix my Hero and that they could send me a new one in 2-3 days.

This couldn't be! The people (my clients) could not be properly attended to if my Hero was not on the job. I spoke with the Commissioner (customer service tech?s boss's, boss's, boss's, boss). He wasn't able to offer any assistance.

Time was of the essence. I let them know that the people could not wait and I would not ask them to. I searched for another way.

The situation called for robot like precision. Where to go? What were my options? I could go over to the blue side and live inside an overprotective bubble. I could go to the pink side, where things are seemingly more open, but the citizens (again, clients) may not be able to reach me in times of need. I could opt to move to team red where I would be available at all times.

That choice was clear. The red team offered the coverage and precision that was called for, but who could replace my Hero? There was the possibility for Error(is) but things seemed too much like they used to be. The problems of the past might rear their ugly head. This left but one choice. It offered the hands on accessibility that I had been afforded before (keyboard) but even since I made the choice, the possibilities of being undersized (memory) and overpowered (Snapdragon) have been in the back of my mind.

Truth-be-told, I don't even find myself being as hands on as I used to be (don't use the keyboard).

Mine is a story of decision and uncertainty that I can only hope will be resolved in the next 24 days, or I will be forced to live with my decision, always wondering what might have been.

Haven't you seen the smooth transition from one screen to another, from one app to another on the Incredible? Try doing that on the Eris even with 2.1 installed and root. It lags behind, especially on startup. Call someone and thirty seconds later actually be connected. Enough said.

My Motorola Droid is great, but my wife's Blackberry Curve is horrible... she needs to be on Android (and of course she would get my Droid, and I would take the Incredible!)

Currently using the T-Mobile G1! The orginal android diva! Had to root the phone just to enable exchange so that I could recieve my e-mails from school which I barely get service at anyway. I hacked it to 2.1 but had to sacrifice the camcorder, 3D gaming, video playback and overall speed! (528 MHz feels more like 128 Mhz :( ) Can totally subsidize my $400 deposit at verizon be offsetting the price of the phone!

Everybody here is talking about the droid and the tour being their sorry old phone. I'm here with my VERY SORRY Curve 8330 and I desperately need the incredible. Pleasee help me

I'm currently using a super free upgrade flip phone. I'm not even sure if it has a model number. Its a samsung something or other (generic filp phone1 probably). It's almost 100% plastic and it feels like it'll break everytime I use it.

This old LG dare is pathetic, touch screen is horrible and it's in need of an upgrade. Been watching for some android phones for VZW but I don't have an upgrade till the end of the year and would love to get an android phone to use to test out some of the apps my roommate and I are creating for the Market

I am using an ancient Motorola E815 that is powered by burning coal.
It is ACTUALLY eroding at the corners.
It's like that show "Life After People".

aging LG VX8700

Hmm..my aging LG VX8700 with the fat crack down the screen would love to finally get to rest. He is a workhorse to be sure but knowing that he has been replaced by a worthy device such as the Incredible would probably ease the sting of retirement!

tell us about the sorry old phone you're currently using.
Old? Phone?
Well, my Moto-Droid is not old, but I got it just a week ago and want to trade up within my 30 day return window, so yes I'm IN!

My Old phone is a Nokia 1100, no smarts about it, ha ha.

Thanks for the contest.

My sorry old phone is a Katana LX. I am still in the dark ages and would love to be using android right now. Just looking for the right one.

While my BlackBerry Cuve 8330 wasn't exactly sorry when it came out...reading this website's posts DRIVES ME CRAZY! I NEED AN ANDROID PHONE!!!

That's right, we're giving away a second Verizon HTC Droid Incredible. And you can (and should) enter both contests. (Here's the first contest.)

To win in this thread, tell us about the sorry old phone you're currently using. We'll pick one post at random Wednesday morning, and get the phone shipped off in time to reach you on launch day. Good luck, everybody!

Using the Droid, and I due to a lot of flashing/messing around, It now does not work with 3g. Only talk and text :P Yea, it's my fault, but wouldnt it be nice to get an Incredible instead? I think so lol

Droid is nice, but the incredible is a lot nicer. It looks so sleek and beautiful, unlike this square that I'm holding in my hand.

I personally have a Droid but my wife has a Nokia handset (non-smartphone) that is discontinued. It does not close straight anymore which demonstrates the craftmanship of the phone. It is not even 6 months old yet and it closes crooked. I would love her to upgrade and blog about her conversion to a smartphone as she is not the most technically knowledgeable individual. She did not even know how to minimize a window on her CPU before she met me. We are in our early 30's so one would expect she would navigate electronic equipment instinctively. She owns a Palm (PDA) and only uses one program on it! I think she would make a interesting and humorous subject for a blog about the tech ignorant. So, please give my wife the phone!

I just have a busted up Droid. I've had it for all of 2 months. It's time to upgrade and pass it on to my children.
