I am currently using a
Blackberry Tour 9630 (Verizon) which I've only had since December 2009.. The reason why I bought the Tour is because I initially bought the Blackberry Curve 8330 last May 2009. It was my first Blackberry ever and it was the biggest piece of junk ever. It was VERY slow and lagged alot.
With it being my first Blackberry I was not familiar with them and was fed up with it so I was talking to my cousin who was selling her Blackberry Tour 9630. I bought it from her and it was a WAY better phone that the Curve but still had it's issues.
Some of the issues were the CONSTANT Blackberry Outages that have plagued the Blackberry users which for me I was not use to coming from an LG enV before the Curve.
Another issue was recently when RIM (Blackberry) updated the Tour's OS to v5.0. I updated it because it was suppose to make things faster and I hear about the threaded text messaging which I would like. I upgraded to the v5.0 OS at the middle of March (whenever the update was released) and the only issue I had was the browser click. ANY time you would click something (still to this day it's a problem) it won't click right away
Well on April 10th I pulled my phone out of my pocket to send a text message and see "Technical Issue: Please return to place of purchase for repair" on my phone with a white background. Nothing else. I try to pull the battery and nothing happens.... I'm VERY upset by this point. I go to the Verizon store and show the Tech and he advises that since I bought the phone used from my cousin he can not do anything for me and advises me to contact Verizon Customer Service.... I tell him I don't have a phone so I can not call... He says see if I can borrow a phone from a friend.. I'm like what the heck?!
So after contacting Verizon Customer Service they try to work out a deal with me and say I can pay $199 for a Tour 9630 (same phone as what I have) but I would have to renew my contract. I tell her why would I want to renew my contract when this phone is a piece of junk? She says sorry sir but we can sell you a refurb one for $149 and I would not have to renew my contract but it would not be until Monday/Tuesday until I would get a replacement phone (keep in mind that it's Saturday at 6pm).... I was not happy!!
So I messed around with my Blackberry and my computer. I figured out a way to flash the phone back to v4.7 OS which fixed the problem. Verizon/Blackberry rolled out and update to the OS v5.0 update which "fixed" the problems that caused all the Tour 9630 (Verizon) to brick.... I updated to it and it caused my phone to mess up again... So I went back to v4.7 OS and am staying put with it...
Blackberry has been a PITA to me and I'm DONE with them.
I have been looking for a Android phone (particularly the Droid) for a while now but I don't have $300+ to spend on a used one right now.
So I'm hoping to win a Incredible to end this damn BLACKBERRY Ordeal!
Thanks
