Excuse me for being a noob, but is installing an overclock kernel a relatively simple task now that my Wildfire S is rooted and s-off? If so, any recommended links to do so on this specific phone? Thanks!

quesiton, what file type does the image have to be? I keep going through all the steps and it'll tell me it's rooted, but it's not.

Alright so I got my phone s-off, but I can't get it rooted. not quite sure what the issue is..
I am running superoneclick and it says my device is rooted, but i run the connectbot test and it comes up as not rooted.
running it right now..at step 6 and it keeps restarting to the VM screen and then back to the htc screen. sooo...now what?

OK, sorry bout all the posts, i finally got it. thanks for the tutorial!
This might be repetitive, but now that I have it rooted, how can i make more space on my phone and how can i get it to tether?

Hey everyone, first post here (i think), but ive been watching this thread for a long time now.

a while back i S-Offed my phone and rooted it with no problems whatsoever, and two nights ago finally decided to try out the rom.

The wipe/install went smooth, i just have a few questions about it.

Does the Wi-Fi work properly? although it isnt a big deal to me, whenever i try to connect to my router at home, it gets to "Obtaining IP address" then says it failed, i know its not my network because before flashing the rom i was able to connect perfectly fine everytime. like i said, its not a big deal, im just wondering.

Also, is the VM boot animation suppose to be there? im sure it is, i just find it annoying personally, and any apps ive found that change it, say they succeeded in changing it, but on the reboot, its the normal VM animation whereas on other phones ive had it worked perfectly. but then again, it didnt work on the stock rom either.

also, i noticed the internal memory for installing apps is significantly smaller then it was on the stock rom, i had about 105mb free with no apps installed on stock, and roughly ~55mb free with no apps installed on the flashed rom, which is kind of a problem. and whenever i try to move any apps to my sd card, it fails everytime, im not sure why, it might just be my phone (i hope its not).

But, thats not saying there isnt any good with the rom. On stock, i always averaged about 100-130mb of ram free, which caused it to run pretty slow unless i constantly used a task killer, but on the new rom, im averaging ~280+mb free all the time, which is an amazing increase! combine that with a stable overclocked (or overclockable) kernal, and it would drastically improve performance overall and most likely eliminate any slow-ups when the phone comes out of sleep.

Either way, the rom is great, its SO much better then stock, despite the minor things i explained, and i greatly appreciate all of the time and effort put into it and i cant wait to see it when and if the bootanimation gets changed, and it paired with a overclocked kernal, it would be amazing :D

P.S. there was bloat still in the rom when i flashed it, again, not a big problem, i was able to uninstall what i want, just something else i noticed :)

was there an update released within the last night or so? because i downloaded the rom like 3 nights ago and im havin a problem with the wifi still, but as for the boot animation fix, do i just put it on my sd card and flash it through the recovery? or is there some other way of going about it?

no..the rom is a few weeks old. But its a different version from the classic rom from the first page of this thread. Check what version you have. I'm running the 2.6.7 version right now and wifi works fine...and I'm pretty sure boot animation is gone too.

oh alright, but with the bootanimation.zip, do i just flash that in the recovery after i wipe/flash the rom?

also is there any OC kernal out? if so could i please get a link to the post with it? and also once i put all three on my SD card, is there any specific order to flash the .zips? or could i just go rom>kernal>bootanimfix?

thanks for the help btw :)

EDIT: i found the OC kernal on page 38, but the download link is broken, i tried it on 2 different browsers just to make sure it wasnt firefox messing up or something, idk if its just me that cant get to it, but yeah :(

Simon, could you, or someone that has the OC kernel re-upload it somewhere? the link to it on page 38 is dead and idk where else i can get it from, thanks

Hey, i loaded this to my bros a510c and it didnt come rooted...pretty weird, so i ran super one click and got it rooted, also noticed it said us cellular instead of virgin mobile, also weird, but right after i rooted it, the internet stopped working, and my ov is working fine, is vm just blocking his cuz of it saying us cellular? Or is it a hardware issue, i also flashed leansense onto it after the test cm7 and internet still wont work....but texting and talk will....

The gsm kernel on xda works fine on the cdma version. I believe it is the one built from the Europe source if I recall correctly. Not sure why it wasn't mentioned as the kernel you guys are using is built from the same source.

As in that source builds with out a issue and has cdma and gsm together.

hey guys, i flashed the newest rom, the 2.6.7, and the bootanimationfix.zip (but i couldnt get a hold of the OC kernal) it all went just fine, wifi works now and all that stuff, but now im getting random lockups, and whenever i try to install a app from the market, or anywhere for that matter, the phone freezes up and restarts, i tried re-flashing, and it didnt help. Could it be because i only did a factory reset through the custom recovery and didnt go through and format other parts? (i would have done so, but im not 100% sure on what i should be formatting, idk if i should be messing with /boot or /system or not, if someone could please help me with this i would appreciate it very much :)

EDIT: so i decided to get brave, and formatted boot, data, cache, and system, then re-flashed again, and it still freezes and restarts :/
