[WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA

Yes with blue text. I may just have to reinstall it since it freezes and also reboots randomly sometimes. Wiped, Installed rom, then bootanimation and currently waiting at HTC screen lol.

lol, jeez, idk what it could be...mine boots, but i cant install any apps, so its practically useless, i get to choose between no apps, or no wifi, just cant win either way :/

but yes, reinstalling the CWM couldnt hurt, its worth a try

tell me how everything goes if i dont repost im prolly sleep its late over here lol

Yeah tell me about it. I need to be studying instead of being up trying to make my phone functional again. Thanks for the help guys. I'll just mess around for another hour or so then sleep.

lol i hear ya, its almost midnight here, pretty tired, but after all of that, i still cant install apps, but i did notice that fastboot was enabled, could that cause anything? cuz it says it can affect market apps, also, is there anyway to force apps to install to the internal memory? or does it do that automatically?

oh, and smartbrotha, you wouldnt happen to have the OC kernal, would you?

and Silent, no problem man, i wish i could be more help, ill try to come up with something else to help you with your phone.

Approaching 3AM lol. Um, I don't think fastboot should affect it but what do I know. Also, Link2SD can be made to automatically create links. It's not exactly moving market apps but yeah....

alright, im getting to the last resort option, which would be to just assume that i need to re-download the rom, and re-flash again. im running out of ideas, and thats about all i can think of right now, lol

i just thought of something for your dilemma though, what version is your H-boot? u can check it at the same place u check whether or not ur phone is S-Off

HBoot 1.06.0000

HBoot 1.06.0000

same as mine, so that can be ruled out.

your trying to install the 2.6.7 correct?

try installing the original rom simon posted

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwZ...RhZmRkODIzNTA1

i hope its ok if i re-link something from a different page in the same thread...

except, do NOT flash the bootanimationpatch with that rom, just wipe/factory reset, then flash the rom, reboot, and hope for the best.

keep in mind, it will have the VM boot animation if it gets that far, and wifi wont work, but everything else will, and that will at least get ur phone up and running for now.

Link didn't work but I downloaded the file from the link in the first page. Will try it now. Thought the most updated was named ssromclassic2.6.7.zip. Let's hope this one works

2.6.7 is the latest, the one i linked is an older version, but it works, i have problems with 2.6.7 also, but that one i linked works perfectly minus the wifi, but thats a known problem with the rom

edit: im officially done with 2.6.7, i can get it to boot, but i cant install apps, therefore its unusable, lol, im gonna flash back to the rom i directed you to and just deal with no wifi for now :/

ok, so, my phone just froze while flashing the rom, im thinking its the CWM, we might have to apply the other recovery in this thread before flashing the older rom. which isnt difficult, just an extra step. let me know how it goes for you

as a wrap up, i copied the custom recovery found in this thread to my phone, flashed it through the h-boot menu, then pulled my sd card, plugged it into my laptop with a sd adapter, deleted the custom recovery file, put it back into my phone, booted into the recovery on my phone (should be green/pink colors) then wiped/factory reset, wiped cache, then flashed the ssrom (not the 2.6.7) and it worked, im back at the home screen with a 90% working rom, the built in apps2sd doesnt work, and wifi doesnt, but 3g does, calling does, messaging does, mms, all that, hopefully you can get it to boot also :)

Hey, Smartbrotha, whenever you see this, would not having the newest gapps be causing the app install crashing? because i noticed the gapps versions between the two SS roms are different. if that may be the case, could i just download the latest gapps and flash it after i flash the 2.6.7 rom? if nothing else it might be worth a try, but idk for sure.

Still no luck, even with that rom. Now nothing passes "Opening update package"

did you flash the other recovery? or did u try it with the CWM? because when i tried it with the CWM 5.0.x.x it didnt work either, kept freezing. but then i tried the older recovery, and it worked first try.

incase you did try the CWM recovery, follow these steps that i had to do, it worked for me, i just did it less then an hour ago.

1.download http://www.mediafire.com/?x80higzqm0zqpbp put it on your sd card.
2. shut off your phone, then turn on with power + vol down
3. let it read the zip file you put on the sd card
4. when it asks if you want to apply the update by pressing vol up, press vol up and let it do its thing
5. once its done, press power to reboot, it will stop at the htc screen still.
6. pull out the battery, pull out the sd card also, plug it into something (micro sd adapter, or something that will allow you to plug it into your computer)
7. go into the sd card on your computer, delete the file from your sd card that you put on there in step 1
8. put the sd card + battery back into your phone (be sure the custom rom is on your sd card, ssrom12.4.11.2.zip)
9. turn on phone with power button + vol down
10. let it do its check, then click on Recovery, and let it boot into recovery
11. once in the recovery, click wipe data/factory reset, then click wipe cache
12. flash the rom from your sd card (ssrom12.4.11.2, it will take a while)
13. once done, reboot your phone, and if all goes well, it should sit at the htc screen for ~2minutes or so, then it will go to the VM boot animation, then to the lockscreen. (be advised, wifi will not work, and the built in apps2sd doesnt work properly, but its better then the phone not working at all)

let me know how it goes :)

Yup, It's on marvelc.....well it's virgin mobile usa so I'm sure it is lol.

I noticed there's a CWM 5.0.2.8 version out, is there a difference in the CWM for cdma and gsm?

yeah urs is a marvelc.

and no theres no difference i believe, because CWM is somewhat of a universal custom recovery.

but for our phones, and the SS rom, there was a different recovery provided by simon that was compiled specifically to work with the marvelc, which is why i was telling you to flash it over the CWM, because the SS roms wouldnt flash right under CWM.

so, again, if you follow the steps i posted at the top of the page, it might help you get something to boot on your phone, because if you bypassed that recovery and went straight to CWM and started trying to flash either of the SS roms, that might be whats screwing everything up, cuz i can confirm i had problems with CWM and the SS roms on my phone

So I was on my way to Best Buy for that Black Tie Protection thing hoping to get a switch when my last attempt got it to boot so I went back home. I am on the 2.3.5 OC kernel and using the 2.3.4 sense 2.1 rom that insink71 posted.....i'm installing applications now and it's rebooting....I want re flash for a rom that will install apps properly but am afraid of going through the same trouble again but at least I have my backup phone with me now. It says PRL 61007, is that better than 60683 or does it depend on the location?

EDIT: I reflashed ssrom2.6.7 and it failed so I pulled the battery and I just reboot the device. It loaded and now app installation works without freezing/rebooting... For some reason, Processor says 600MHz and not something better...thought i put on 806MHz
