Hey when I got to CMD and type in adb shell, this comes up: "sh-3.2#"

Is this okay? Will it let me do the operations that me2151 posted? I tried typing adb remount rw but it said error...any help?

use it in adb shell on computer and type in su then try it tell me how it goes i downgraded but if i can get texting back i may upgrade but i will probably need data

And when I install Kravens CM7, is it okay to just installl the barebones build and skip the installation of Google apps for that ROM?

So in essence, install Kraven, reboot into ROM, install CM9...forgo the installation of any GAPPS?

You do not need to install Gapps when on Kravens 7.2.

to the shell question.

Remount is a command like shell.
Instead of typing adb shell type adb remount rw.
It will not work from within shell. su or not...
then push the file to the system directory. THEN use shell

Gotcha. When i try to install CM9, the recovery gives me this: "Random offset: 0x196"

Any ideas?

EDIT: On second try it says: "Random offset: 0x8e"

I know. Guess I should have been a bit more clear. I get that random offset thing as well but it doesn't seem to be indicative of any issues.

lol i figured you knew that. i was clarifying for the one who mentioned it.

EDIT: also Drew i got market working from a fresh flash now without adb or a file manager. just using gapps.
in your zip just remove some system apps and put Vending.apk in. and flash gapps afterward and market will work
also i can confirm gps works

EDIT: another thing. DO NOT disconnect usb while UMC is enable or it will result in a crashed phone requiring a batt pull

Ok thanks guys CM9 is up. Haha but I have another issue.

1. My email/contacts won't sync
2. How do I access my sdcard? I can't install a file manager and i can't check my emails for the apk's i sent myself
3. How did you uninstall your system apps?

1. you must have your google account setup in market or gmail for syncage
2.you need a file manager. you can install one using adb if needed.

adb install <package_name>.apk

If you can't use adb to push stuff, try putting terminal emulator and a file explorer into the cm9 zip in system apps, then youl be able to access your sdcard, after you flash.

Yeah I just used the Sideloader machine, it was faster for me. I extracted Vending.apk from gapps-ics-2012131-noface but it force closes. I'm gonna try a more stable version of gapps. And I already synced my email to gmail on the phone but nothing gives. ??!

EDIT: Ok manually imported my contacts from a CSV of my Google contacts info. That's good.

you also need to install gapps... not just extract vending
thats why market crashed

Oh you guys said it was okay not to install GAPPS? OK well I'll just install the latest version for ICS

Edit: yeah this isn't working for me...love the rom and the hard work of Drew but everything is FC'ing and my essential apps won't load. I'll hold off until it's more stable. But thanks for letting me get a taste of CM9 and for all the help guys

OH. MY. GOD. I was just googling around to see if anyone actually attempted to port ICS to the Optimus just for s and giggles...and here I am.

Looks like a lot is not working but hey...I'm amazed someone even bothered! Tip of my hat.

could be because the partition sizes are incorrect in the build, each phone is partitioned differently.
