Wireless Charging and Samsung Pay Broken after Oreo Update

Well I am very grateful for this thread. I am also very happy that it was so easy to find through a Google search.

I just updated to Android Oreo yesterday and only realized later this morning my wireless charging didn't work. After reading this thread I realized that there might be a link between Samsung pay and the loss of my wireless charging.
I checked all my settings and fast wireless charging was on. I turned it off just to see if that would fix it. When you turn it off it automatically defaults to slow wireless charging, which also did not work.

I then removed Samsung pay, Samsung pay for my gear S3, in disabled Samsung pay framework.

After that it rebooted my phone and wireless charging worked fine.

Although I installed it and set it up I have never used Samsung pay.

I have to say I'm spoiled by wireless charging. I usually put my phone on the charger at night in the dark and rarely have problems.

I know this solution disables Samsung pay and that may not be a great option for everyone.

Again I want to thank everyone who contributed to this thread it saved me a lot of time and frustration.

I'm on an S7, so if and when Oreo comes to the S7, I'll be holding off on updating. If the S9+ has these same issues, I'll be holding off on getting it as well. SP and wireless charging are my top 2 must-have features.

This sounds like an isolated case. The S9+ ships with Oreo and wireless charging and SP work fine.

2 things since Oreo: well three if you count Google....Samsung Pay works but doesn't give me notifications and my gear sport watch had an update as well and now doesn't detect exercise.

My Verizon Note 8 wireless charging feature no longer works since updating to Oreo. In addition, Samsung Pay no longer works either. I can sit the phone on the Samsung brand charger model number EP-NG930 which the charger recognizes the phone because the bolt symbol appears on the battery in the taskbar, but never charges.

Also, I've tried three stores that worked the day before I updated to Oreo, but now nothing. The chip readers don't recognize the phone, however, I've been able to use Samsung Pay on my Gear S3 so that leads me to believe it has to do with the Oreo update..

Has anyone else experienced these issues, if so how did you resolve it?

I fear a hard reset is my only option... Ugh!
Ours works fine

Ours works fine

I have a Wireless Fast charger, and is only charging normal speed since update. When I remove my phone from the charger, the ability to toggle the fast charger is there. When I put back on the charger, it grey's out.

My S9+ with Oreo, worked fine with Google Pay. I put Samsung Pay on it and lost wireless charging. I uinstalled Samsung Pay , rebooted, and now wireless charging works again.

My hunch is that since Samsung Pay uses magnetic as well as NFC. maybe it uses the charging coil.

Note 8 on Verizon here. Not digging the Oreo update. Glitchy. Every few days phone locks up and needs a reboot. Didn't have that before. Biggest annoyance is when phone charges to 100% on the wireless, the screen lights up all nice and bright for 30 seconds or so. Great fun at night. Then it does it every half hour or so I assume after it drains a bit then recharges. Didn't have this little gift before Oreo. I'm not sure what Oreo gave us but I've noticed nothing of benefit.

If anyone knows how to stop the annoying screen on upon full charge, please let me know!

Open the developer options tab within the settings gear icon and turn off the "stay awake" toggle. For many this option is turned on which forces the screen to stay on once the battery reaches 100%. Turn this feature off and the screen will turn off after fully charging.tempFileForShare_20180430-184828.jpg

I do not see a 'developers options' anywhere on the phone. A search did not bring that option up either. Is this something Verizon kills off?

Never mind, found how to turn it on with the 7 pushes to the Build Number method. Unfortunately, the Stay Awake button was off. So is anyone else having this issue?
