Just picked up a Droid 3 this week and the inductive charging cover and mat I ordered directly from Verizon came this morning.
The charging mat - It's made by LG, model # WCP-700 with Verizon branding. Build quality and cord /AC adapter felt good. When plugged in, indicator lights (one for power to unit, the other for charging status (no phone present, charging and fully charged) worked as they should.
The inductive battery cover - thicker than the standard battery cover. Went on without a hitch, but with the larger battery door, my aftermarket rubber case (Qmadix, thick & soft, with grooves) would not fit completely on the device. It wouldn't snap into place in the grooves along the side because the grooves were now further away. I could only hinge either the bottom, or the top, it would not fit over both. So with a cover half on and pressed as far as it would go, I put the device on the charging pad, and it would not detect that a phone was there. The LED didn't change and the device wouldn't charge.
Took the case off, and it worked perfectly.
I really like my case, and would be open to suggestions on others, but my impression is that it would have to be a case that was designed for the thicker inductive battery door. in order for it to fit properly. I was really looking forward to the inductive charging, but I need the case more than the charging pad so I'm going to take everything back to the Verizon store, and unless they have a case there that will fit with the thicker door AND that will charge through the case, I will be returning it.
