Wireless Tether 4 Root on Fascinate

Add me to the list of having problems. I can't get Wireless Tether OR Barnacle to work. I'm definitely rooted. Like the poster above, my laptop sees the available ad hoc networks, and it acts like it is connected but it connects with an exclamation mark and it won't load any websites, etc.

What's really weird is I had wireless tether working just fine on my first fascinate. This is a replacement device and it won't work.

ETA: I think I discovered my problem...I have a static IP address due to a port forwarding setting I'm using on the router...these wifi tether programs don't like static IPs. As soon as I delete the static IP Barnacle Legacy worked just fine. I actually didn't test Wireless Tether. Will update when I do.

Just tested Barnacle Legacy on my and the fiancee's Fascinate's. Works fine! Tested with my old iPhone 3GS, and two Windows 7 Laptops.

So any tethering/ wireless tethering app that i use when rooted is free, it will only show up on bill if i use the Verizon one?

Thanks in advance!

I've tried it, it works fine. Used it for 2 mins, and then went back to using my normal connection...
I downloaded barnacle, and I keep getting error messages sayimg that it cant find my phone. I am having the same issue with adb, my computer is not recognizing it, but I can still mount the sd card, and phone charges. Any ideas?

I've been having problems too. My laptop can see the connection, but won't connect. My PS3 doesn't see the connection at all. From what I've read, we can't use this app with a PS3 because it doesn't support ad hoc connections. As for why certain computers are able to see/connect to the connection and others are not, I've talked with two IT people and nobody knows.

I read in another forum somewhere that if you change the channel on the wifi tether program from channel 6 (which I think was the default) to channel 1 it should work better.

You might wanna give that a try if you haven't already.

I used to use Tetherberry or Tether as they are now called on my BB and never had any issues Worked Flawlessly for me.

I was on the tether website a while back and they had a link to request to try the android tether beta which I submitted.

I just finally got my invite to try it so I will have to give it a whirl and report back this may be another tethering alternative in the works for us and if I am not mistaken it doesn't require root.

Gonna give it try tonight but curious if anyone else tried it out yet.

Hi, I'm new here. When I start the wireless tether app, it says that wired tethering is running and should be disabled first. How do I disable wired tethering.

Windows 7 64bit tether

wireless tether does not work on win 7 64bit.

I tested it on another laptop which has win 7 32bit and it works well.

hopefully, wireless tether next ver. comes out soon.

I am using usb wired tether app from market in win7 64bit system.

Can anyone else cofirm wireless tether doesnt work on windows 7 64bit.?

Which wired tether app are you using, Ki?

I can't connect with Windows 7 64bit or with windows xp. Both computers see Androidtether, but can't connect to it. I tried changing the channel to channel 1, but that didnt work either. I've read this whole post, no one so far has provided a solution as to why some computers won't connect. Please help.

Edit. Nevermind. Stupid drivers on my laptops weren't up to date. The one computer is less than a year old. You think they'd come with the newest drivers.

I'm running the wireless tether app and my laptop on win 7 64bit doesn't notice it either. But I've heard 32bit does.
