Just curious if you could point me in the right direction because I'd like to unlock my inc2 as well, for exactly the same usage you have. A link or pm would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance. On a slightly unrelated note, I unlocked my DI2 shortly after purchase. I popped in my GeoSIM global roaming card while here in the USA. And my phone just went crazy. I couldn't connect to any network, CDMA or GSM. I decided to try it again after the software update. And sure enough, no problems. I was able to switch between AT&T and Verizon with no problems (AT&T signal is much stronger than VZW).
Hope this is helpful information.
The data connection on an unlocked phone is a tricky proposition. The unlocked phone will accept the new SIM for phone calls and text messages. 3G on the other hand is still carrier locked. On my BlackBerry, I was able to manually tune the API settings for data. I don't know if you can do this on the Droid. So the HotSpot feature may not work (or it may need a root).
Any Android saavy users have an answer?
I don't see why not. My Global SIM roams T-Mobile and AT&T in the US. I assume a standard AT&T SIM will work. I don't have an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card to test it. But even if it does, remember that you will not get 3G data. 3G is still locked.

And remember that Verizon will only unlock the phone if you have service and meet the criteria. So if you have other plans for the phone, unlock it BEFORE you remove it from your calling plan.
