It was $500...if you traded in select phones for note 7 owners... Even a 5 year old one.
Oh I meant the Mate 10 to get down to $500

Oh... I would guess 8 months.Oh I meant the Mate 10 to get down to $500
I'm about to put mine in the marketplace here, so yeah, I think it's ok if you buy one now.Even with the Mate 10 on the horizon would you guys recommend buying a mate 9 today?
I've always liked the look of the mate 9 and have almost bought it on a few occasions.
The mate 9 will be more appealing now as price is decent and will be a lot cheaper than what the mate 10's will be.
I change phone quite a lot, every 6 months or so...so would the mate 9 be a decent purchase for 6 months (and I'm coming from an S8 plus).
Battery life, camera, speed of use and sound quality (through headphones) are my main points I look for in a phone....
Thanks.

Sure well that's how things normally go. But I suspect that the mate 11 would also be on a similar price... So buy when you want... Or wait forever.By then Mate 11 is just around the corner
Sure.. Especially if you are happy with what you have then you can keep using it for now to save moneyWaiting forever doesn't sound too bad
That's why I said about 8 months, which is roughly the beginning of summerWe started seeing the first real discounts on the Mate 9 during the summer.
Interesting comment on just waiting for the Mate 11. I'd probably lean that way. Especially so since the performance of the Mate 10 isn't much above the Mate 9 I already own. Same Cortex A53 and A73 Arm processors with same clock speed on the Kirin chip. Not sure how they got the Antutu score improved so much though. May be something related to the Mali G72 GPU in the mate 10 or Kirin 970 chip architecture.
System optimization would make a big difference too in performance. But I would assume that they would do good optimization.Benchmarks doesn't translate into real world performance. you won't see that 10%, 15% or even a 20% faster performance in your everyday usage. Apps may open .2-.5 seconds faster. but you wouldn't notice it unless you compare it to another phone side to side

The more I think about it I wouldn't buy any Huawei phone again as a US consumer.
I don't trust Huawei/Honor to support my devices in the future.

Well, they just announced they'll update the phones more frequently.
Glad that you have faith. I am iffy since they promised quarterly updates on the 5x and they just abandoned it.Well, they just announced they'll update the phones more frequently. I trust them. I owe 2 Huawei / Honor phones, 2 tablets and one selfie stick lol
He might be the last man standing, posting all to himself here. LolAtta boy...
Keep the faith.
Somebody has to.
If depends on what they are trying to accomplish. If they competing with Motorola or blu then they can skip updates and provide poor warranty service like they are doing now. But if they want to take on Samsung and Apple in the usa in the high end then yeah... They need better updates and warranty support. Unless they want to spend millions settling a lawsuit for not properly providing warranty service like Motorola. They absolutely HAVE to support their devices if they really plan to overtake Apple and put some heat on Samsung. And look what Samsung had to do with their Note 7 last year! Huawei is a huge company too, and they can support their devices.
