Would you buy another ultrapixel phone.

Based on the images that users have submitted in the "Sticky" thread....ABSOLUTELY!

I bet HTC do away with the whole ultrapixel thing. It's not a selling point to the general public at all.

From the desk of Hiss Excellency.

A high megapixel count CAN be advantageous, the mistake is in thinking it alone is sufficient. Nokia Pureview cameras (and their 41(!!!) mp camera) are often cited as the best smartphone camera out there (whenever they're included in comparisons, which is not too often because they're so niche), and I'm eager to see what the Lumia 1020 will be able to do. (Shame it's only on AT&T in the US). The key is nokia doesn't just make the Pureview about the high megapixel count, they also include better optics and clever processing.

I'd love to have my cake and eat it too: An ultrapixel camera that also has 8mp+. Having said that, the HTC One's camera is very well suited to my needs as I tend to just share photos to g+ or twitter, and rarely bother to zoom in. So, yes I'd absolutely buy another phone with ultrapixel camera again, but I'll always be hoping for even better! ;-)

Unfortunately, the videos I saw of the Lumia showed a lot of latency between shots. Like a couple seconds. While no doubt the quality of the images will be superior, that is just too unresponsive for me. Burst mode on the HTC will take like 15 or 20 shots in the time the Lumia is ready for a second one. Fine if you are just taking a scenic shot but if you are taking pictures of people or kids it just isn't practical.

Speaking of which, I know you're a straight shooter so what do you think about the low-light capability of the Ultrapixel camera?

I second this question.

No, I took hold of my cousins HTC one and preferred the HTC one X or butterfly.

I love this phone and the camera gets the job done well. I decided to try my wife's iPhone 5 next to my one to see the difference in low light. It still seems like the 5 still shows more light in a low light environment. This being a special camera for low light. Can someone explain this.

It's impressive for sure. The S4 is capable of better low light pics but It needs tweaking and it's not consistent. For whipping it out and snapping the One is more consistent.

What evidence do you have outside a website with arena in it's name that the s4 can take better low light pics under any conditions?

Madlaw is known for having both phones. He also provides unbiased opinions on matters (such as this one of the camera) from his usage of each phone.
