Would You Buy This???

Looks cool, but I have a question. How do you compose the picture if the screen is facing away from you? Also seems that triggering the shutter would be awkward, for the same reason.

Sorry guess I forgot to mention its for video calling (like Skype, or apples facetime), and i guess if you wanna take pictures of yourself..

It is an interesting concept for temporary use. Obviously to those that think it looks weird you would be able to remove it. I assume it would run through the USB port but my question is what system file would you use to make this work? An Epic or I9000? That I think would be the most difficult part...maybe you would be able to see what the Vibrant guys did to make a FFC work.

Thank you for noticing Flashman, it is for temp use! It does come off guys! Kinda like the old ipod itrip thingy. Its just for when you wanna use it... you dont keep it on all the time... And im not a programmer, just a designer, so I have no idea what type of program or what not to use...

That is awesome and I'd buy one as soon as it was released. However wouldn't something like this require USB host drivers? Have they even been made for the Captivate? I mainly use my Nexus and am not too familiar with the Captivate, but I do know that USB host drivers were needed for the Nexus One to do similar.

this is a nice concept.....but if somehow it can be smaller so u can just keep it on rather than taking it on and off because it make the phone too long. Also, an LED notification light would be nice in addition to the camera.

How can you make it any smaller? It has to be that tall due to the camera. Have you ever seen a front facing camera, they are about an inch wide. So the concept would be really accurate based on size.

Musicmasta -

What I mean is, is this a rendering of the external surfaces only, or have you (or others) completed electronics / optical design for the internal components too?

Given your "I'm not a programmer" comment, I suspect that this is just an external render.

Hope this clarifies things,

AoN

Would really be able to make it smaller, maybe take the speakers out and make it a little more round to the phone, that's about it though...

AoN - Yep, just an external rendering, kinda just thought it would be a cool concept and see if it would be something people would be interested in... Could always make it a reality though.
