^ Not sure, but if you look at the specs for the Xperia Z2, there's absolutely no mention of CDMA. Only GSM. So 'support' may be different than a manufacturer choosing to 'include'.

Snapdragon supports it, but that doesn't mean the antenna supports it, or they built support into the OS and baseband image. Snapdragon supporting it means they CAN. Doesn't necessarily mean they WILL.

Anyone have any updates? I'm going by AT&T this Friday to see if anyone knows anything. I doubt they will say anything but won't hurt to ask.

Any word? I want to get this phone as well. No preorders in the states yet, only in Europe but they will not ship to the US. I need a new phone and this one will be the one.

Awww man i started reading about this phone and got all excited, then didn't even realize till i came here that it probably won't come to the US. That sucks a LOT. This looks like an amazing phone =(

I called the Sony flagship store in NYC last week and was told the phone will be released in the US but no date as yet.

Talked to my usual AT&T rep yesterday and he said he was familiar with the Z2 and his understanding is the release will be quite a bit more widespread than any previous release. That was all I could get but did think it was positive. I think April will be a good month.

So I read this on Motoring Crunch:

"There is bad news for anyone waiting for the arrival of the Sony Xperia Z2 in the USA as Sony has now confirmed that they will not release the flagship device in the US. The device is set to reach UAE markets on 17 April. "

This is as of March 16

So i panicked and bought it from Clove. I can still cancel it, but if this releases by the time the z3 comes out then theres no point. Also I have a brand new Iphone 5, So i will sell it to compensate for the cost.
Am I crazy? haha

That does it for me. Between the lack of support in buying a non-U.S. marketed phone should something go wrong and the difficulty in finding accessories, it looks like I'll be buying the S5.

At least this removes the doubt.

I guess I had no intention on waiting months for a US release anyway. So it doesn't really affect me luckily. I have a bit of a hard time believing this sort of thing anyway. I don't think companies make this sort of statement. It's so definate. I would think a Sony rep would say "at this time we have no plans for a US release". I think rumor was the Z wasn't coming either.... Just the ZL. That proved false. I'm just not convinced.

I have a hard time believing it too, since according to a lot of tech sites there were rumors of it being a bigger release than their past phones.
However, I do think it'll probably be a summer release or a couple months delayed at least. Doesn't seem Sony is in a rush to get it to the US Customers

Forgot i posted to the Sony Mobile US Facebook page awhile back asking about the Z2. I got a response yesterday. Pretty much lines up with what everyone else has been saying.

"Hi there - we don't yet have news to share on the Xperia Z2 and US availability. We'll let you know once we have more info!"

So it sounds like its not a NO so that's good to hear again. I just hope that if it is coming to the US they announce it soon. HTC One announcement is only 1 week away and if i hear nothing from the Z2 i'll probably be picking me up one of those.

as long as it supports AT&Ts frequencies, I have no problem with buying it outright from whoever can deliver it.

The Z2 tablet just received FCC approval for AT&T based on the LTE band. Maybe that means the phone comes too. Given the buzz that the Z2 has generated it could actually be true that Sony is having production issues in anticipating demand. Fingers crossed but the fact they are getting the tablet is good news. Sony will be back in AT&T.
