After going through 3 Samsung Fascinates and having multiple issues with them over the last year Verizon has offered to send a DInc2 as a replacement with an extended battery. I've spent the last couple of days looking at the DInc2 forum here and seeing other people's experiences it seems like this is the phone that Big Red has designated to resolve their Sam Fascin8( headaches. I am looking forward to the new phone when it arrives early next week but I was wondering if there are any tips, tricks, or maybe some particularly helpful apps that you use on this phone? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Having never owned or used a Fascinate I can't compare the two phones, but the DInc2 is a nice phone straight out of the box. No need to really add anything to it if you are happy with it when you get it.

Any apps that you used on the Fascinate should work just fine on the DInc2, so just load those back up when you get the new phone.

The only tweak I made to mine is installing ADW.Launcher since I prefer it over the Sense UI.

It really is a great device. Fire it up and enjoy!

Thanks for the info! Some of the reading and research that I have done have pointed out little quirks like the keyboard and browser that people didn't like and just wondered what if anything people had done to address those concerns.

As for the apps that I use on my Fascinate I am going to use this opportunity to trim the apps that I don't use or have no use for anymore.

The only keyboard problem I've had with my phone is that occasionally the vibrate feedback doesn't seem to register. The letter I'm typing appears, but the feedback isn't there sometimes. My wife's DInc2 does not have this problem so It's obviously an issue with my phone. It doesn't bother me enough to exchange the device.

The browser works just fine. No issues there.

I'm a BlackBerry refugee that went through 4 phones in 3 months (3 9930 1 9650) but VZW let me get an Incredible 5 days ago(first NON BlackBerry in YEARS)...I LOVE THIS PHONE

Welcome to the Dinc 2. I had the Fascinate as well before problems made me leave. The dinc 2 is a great phone, I have never had an issue that made me regret getting it.

As far as apps that you need to help the phone....well there ain;t alot that it needs to make day to day stuff better unless you don't like sence then go with Go launcher.

The Inc2 is an awesome and dependable phone. The stock HTC keyboard sucks though IMO. I use the free gingerbread keyboard from the market. Adw ex with android pro widgets is also nice if you want a different interface. I also like go launcher ex too.

Well I missed the Fed Ex Truck today so I have to wait until tomorrow for my DInc2! Argh!!! Oh well, tomorrow will be a good day.

Stelv, Thanks for the info on the keyboard, I have heard that the keyboard was not very good on this phone. Several reviews stated that the location of the key used to collapse or hide the keyboard was right below the shift key and made it frustrating when you tried to shift and closed the keyboard instead!

Bsannes, Go Laucher looks interesting! I will check it out!

I started wondering today if Swipe worked with the DInc2? I have really gotten used to it on my Fascinate and would hate to give that up! Other apps I use are LauncherPro, DolphinHD browser and K9 mail

I use k9 too because the stock email doesn't work that great for me with my yahoo accounts. You can get swype on your phone if you have a beta tester key. Its a nice phone. I think you will like it.

I think its a great phone for no 4G. Actually I think its probably one of the best if not the best non 4G phones right out of the box. I also think Verizon has a huge stockpile of them which they can't sell very well anymore since they gave all these new 4G phones, so its a great "swap" out phone to make people happy.

I did root so I cwm have virtuous unity (sense 3.0) and i'm very happy I did. It works great and should have been upgraded with the gingerbread update.

I finally got my DInc2 yesterday evening and so far I am quite impressed! First with the extended battery this phone is almost twice as thick as my fascinate. That also has more then double the battery life. Last night I gave the phone a full charge and now after more then 14 hours I still almost 50% power left! but I'm really amazed at how much faster this phone is! The 3G reception seems to be much better then the Fascinate as is the WiFi and GPS. On my old phone those wireless connections never seemed to work quite right and I found myself avoiding the use of the browser and other services because of it. Already in the last 24 hours I find myself using the phone more for web browsing and such. Many of the apps that I tried to use on the Fascinate with little success and much frustration just work on the Incredible2!

The one thing I don't like about this phone is the keyboard! After trying to use it I went to swype.com and loaded the Swype keyboard! This even works better on the DInc2 then it did on the Fascinate!

Congrats! You will definitely like this phone way more than the fascinate.

I too came from the Fascinate, and yes you'll definitely like this phone better. A lot snappier, faster, and better picture. I liked the Fascinate, but yeah this will be a step up.
