Your way to update to MD4

Yes, if you're on a stock, unrooted phone, you'll get the OTA for this eventually. No way to tell how soon, unfortunately.Could be tomorrow, could be in three weeks.

Well, I am impatient, so i followed your instructions and it worked like a charm. Thanks for posting and all that.

This is sooooo cool...did ya know you can split the screen with ANY app??!!...just open the app ya want (as normal) then drag any of the apps on your tool bar...maybe this is NOT new and NOT the right place to post this BUT I was just to excited!!

**EDIT**
ok NOT ALL APPS...BUT STILL!!

***EDIT OF EDIT***

ok I GUESS I got a little TO excited...as it turns out only my Boat Browser will do this...but as its one of my mostly used apps its rrally cool

So is anyone having any issues with this update? Mainly, is Wi-Fi tether still working? I just want to check before I update.

Still pretty new to all of this but pretty sure I understand. The only thing is I was planning on trying out a new rom, I think it is CHAos. If I follow these instructions, can I then get chaos and reboot into recovery and just flash chaos?

I still can't figure out how to split screen.

Go to settings / display and make sure Multi-Window is checked. The, on any screen with a light backgound (just because it's easier to see), look for a little half-circle shape in the middle of the left-edge of the screen. If you see it, put a finger on it and drag it to the right. If you don't see it, long press the back button.

This might help: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...ot-working-after-jb-update-2.html#post2753455

Are you rooted? I think you must be if you have WiFi tether working. If so, just make a Nandroid backup before updating. If you run into issues, you can restore and get back to where you are now.

Re: Your way to update to MD4 (need a lil push)

Great! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Was swamped with work today.

No problem! Completely understand. I appreciate all the help you provided. Like I said... I just needed a Lil push. You rock!

I am rooted also and did the update and now my Wi-Fi tether doesn't work anymore:'( the app has superuser permission but when I press to tether it says it is but it does nothing, no upload or download speeds and my Nexus 7 that I tether off it does not see it

My phone is rooted, but I have stock recovery. I'm getting a signature validation error. Do I have to have CWM recovery installed to use the instructions in post #2?

doing this update does it also fix the security fix with the home screen as well

Yes.

Which set of instructions are you trying to follow? If you have stock recovery, and all the factory installed apps, then post #1 should work. But if you used an app like Titanium backup to freeze or remove any of the Samsung or Sprint apps, then you can't use post #1.

In order to use post #2, yes, you need CWM or TWRP (I recommend TWRP, it's does everything CWM does and more).

Oh. OK. I thought I couldn't use post #1 if I was rooted. I haven't removed any of the bloatware. I'll give post #1 a try. Thanks

Sooooooo, I was searching the threads and had no luck finding anything mentioning waiting patiently for the ota to drop on a rooted device. In other words, I'm rooted and I just received the ota update notification. Thing is, I'm worried it will break my root. So can I apply the update via ota and still have my root, or should I do manual update? Anybody know?

Go to the first page of this thread. Go post #2, it covers how to update if rooted. That is assuming you have either TWRP or CWM recoveries. If rooted with stock recovery see post #1
