youtube picture seems choppy

just updated to a mini from the old droid2(yeah, way overdue upgrade, i know) and been noticing the video doesn't seem too smooth on the youtube app. the picture looks great, but it's almost like having a tv monitor with a horrible refresh rate. is there any way to improve this? settings to change? this phone is supposed to have twice the processing speed, but video playback is sort of disappointing at the moment.
