My first day with the Fold3 here. Lots of setups, apps openings, videos… my first thoughts, noting I’m also an iPhone 12 Pro Max owner:
- I love how Fold3 feels in hand. I really don’t know why companies and people are so crazy about thin phones: it looks like companies think as thin a phone is, the better. Well, I strongly disagree. Fold3’s form factor seems so close to perfection for me! Not so thin, a lot more narrow. Clear winner!
- The inner screen is gorgeous. The exterior one is very usable. Yes, it’s a little bit too small but, exactly because of that, it’s simply amazing to one-handed use. Liked it a lot. Again, what for a lot of YT reviewers is a con, for me is a big pro. If a want a bigger screen, we’ll, I’ll just open the phone. For casual messages and email heads check, the exterior one is great!
- No bugs, no lags, lots of features. Samsung’s Android is at its best here!
- Battery is… poor. For now, of course! Began using it at 8 a.m, had to recharge at 12. Very poor, even if I consider that’s my first day with it. I really hope it’ll improve in the next days. Still too far away for what’s necessary for my normal day usage, which the 12 Pro Max copes very well.
- The Fold3 is beautiful. No doubt. But the 12 Pro Max is prettier in my opinion. It carriers a bigger ow factor, for me, with that steel border. I also think the 12 Pro Max has more “premium” feeling. But, don’t get me wrong, the Fold3 looks amazing, too.
- Fold3’s camera is amazing. Really good! I cannot say it is better or worse than the 12 Pro Max ones, since both are more than enough for my needs. Both are incredibly good.
- I miss my Note 10+ microSD slot. I miss it a lot! I could easily restore my old backup, which was in a card, with a USB hub, though.
- Samsung’s backup continues to be weak. Restore it during night, and lots of configs and apps configs were missed. I had to do all again, one by one. Apple’s backup continues to be second to none, by far.
- Samsung’s Android is very well fitted for the foldable gadgets at this time. But it still needs some refinements. The UI still looks hard and simple, and the animations didn’t impressed me. Again, it’s a very well made OS, but I really can see space for a lot of improvements, yet.
And that’s it for now! I’ll use it for the next few days, and see if the battery improves as I really hope.
