Why is my battery life draining so fast?

Hi there,

I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S6 to Android 6.0.1 (I think the previous version was 6.0). Ever since the update my phone's battery rapidly depletes and sometimes won't even fully charge, stopping at 86%. Whenever I do manage to get it to 100% and unplug it, the indicator shows 98%. Leaving the screen on for 2 minutes shows the battery dropping from 98% to 95% and sometimes instantaneously to 93%.

Also strange is how it sometimes doesn't deplete normally. When nearing 5% it would shut off without warning. And when plugged it, it would show 15% immediately.

I am at my wit's end. Please help!

It could simply be that you need a new battery.

Welcome to Android Central! belodion is probably right, but obviously, this would require you to bring the phone to a repair shop (or try to open the phone up and replace the battery yourself).
