As an AT&T customer, in the past, I would call them up and ask for an unlock code. As long as the phone was past whatever timeframe they set since its release to give those out, I could get it. It didn't matter if I was on/off contract, if I got the phone from them, eBay, craigslist, had the phone for a year, one day, whatever.

Now, they have this online process to request a code, but it also appears the rules for getting one have also changed, as I've been denied because "the info entered does not match my account." Huh? Unfortunately, their clueless customer dis-service reps don't seem to know what the criteria are.

Does anyone know what exactly needs to match. Is it IMEI and phone number, or some other BS? Thanks.

If you got the phone from ebay, amazon or craigslist then AT&T does not have to unlock it, specially since the original purchasers information doesn't match yours.
If you got if from AT&T then just call them and ask for it. No questions asked when I unlocked my LG NITRO.
