I am curious how some of the minor updates work on phones like HTC One and S4.
Example the HTC had some sort of camera issue at first where some of the photos looked a bit washed out. Somewhere on these boards I saw they had a firmware or some kind of "fix" for this.
And on the S4, some were complaining about lag/choppy and that S4 has also had a firmware update.
Can those sort of things be downloaded directly to the device OTA without carrier intervention / delays?
Can "bugs" or "flaws" be patched / updated without having to wait 6-12 months for the carrier to approve it?
I know going from 4.1 to 4.2 can take 6-12 months since carrier has to hold on to it and stall the update in hopes that you will just get a new phone instead of waiting. But I wasn't sure how or if the other things like bug / flaws / firmware updates went.
thanks
