IM thinking of rooting

I have never rooted but Im thinking of getting the sholesmod from the market. I want to overclock to 800ghz but Im concerned about battery life. How long does the battery last compared to stock out of the box Droid? thanks.

I am running Bugless Beauty with an 800ghz over clock and my battery life is fantastic. Of course, it will depend on your style of use, which apps you run and how much your on the phone but I use my phone pretty often and I am lasting well through the whole day.

I strictly want to overclock with the sholesmod do that? and if so will it delete any or all of my apps? thanks.

The Sholes app will root, create your sperecovery, and then flash to a new rom. If you want to overclock its easier probably to root and over clock on your own.
