swype question

Since the update to froyo 2.2, Swype does not work.
I have read all the posts online about uninstalling swype and then reinstalling. I have done this several times.....and still no success. In fact, now it will tell me that the download was unsuccessful.
Any suggestions?
I miss Swype!!!!

Uninstall swype again get another copy through the browser and this time when you are installing it make sure your browser settings is set for mobile web sites...this should take care of your problem.

Make sure you remove Swype and the Swype installer before reinstalling.

I had to do about four COMPLETE uninstalls (removing both the installer and the app) and complete power downs before it was up and running.

Did you try turning your phone off in between the uninstall/reinstall process?

what version are you using? for 2.2 the only one I found that worked for me is 1.56 I dont have a beta or account just found the install.

Shame on swype and the closed beta

Thanks for the help. I rebooted the entire phone and then once again reinstalled swype and FINALLY it worked!!

To answer some of the questions......in hopes that it helps others.
I had a Droid with Froyo 2.2
I had UNINSTALLED and reinstalled several times without success.....until I followed the suggestion of rebooting after uninstalling and before reinstalling!!
