What are some alternative phones to the Note 4 to consider?

I currently have a Note 2, contract is about to expire. Looking forward to checking out the Note 4 and Note Edge for my next phone. I'd like to hear from you guys if there's any other smartphone that are competitors. I'd like a phone that's as large as (or nearly) the Note 4/Edge, comparable processing power, screen resolution,.....Please no i-Stuff.

Are you specifically looking for a different platform? If you want to stick with Galaxy there is the S4 for one thing.

If not, research Apple or LG's products.

Oh I've heard good things about Nexus, too.

Huawei Mate 7 looks decent, as does the Sony Xperia Z3.

LG G3 or one plus one if you want a phablet.

Otherwise maybe the S5 or moto x

On the smaller size the galaxy alpha or the compact Z2.

You should mention are you looking for international, US, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile as your mileage may vary depending on which carrier you are going to use it on. So far the choices have been spot on. Verizon is rumored to be offering some Sony flagship devices which I always wondered why they didn't.
