Missing text messages

I switched from an iPhone in November of 2014. I have had some kind of issue with text messages ever since. For most iPhone users I can receive individual text messages for certain one I can't receive group messages. Recently I keep getting a message saying I can't receive mms messages. I am on verizon. This is absolutely Maddening. I do not want an iPhone but at least I never missed text messages like I am now. I have used the stock messaging app, textra, chomp, go sms and handcent. Any ideas before I go crazy and do something drastic like go back to iPhones.

It's a known issue that Apple claims to have been working on for months. (Don't ask me what "working on it" means - it could mean "working on keeping it as quiet as possible for as long as possible".)

I talked to Verizon this morning. They really have no explanation other than to do a warranty transfer for a new galaxy s5. I refused, there is nothing wrong with my phone. I think I am going to sell my s5 and sadly going back to my iPhone 5.
