Samsung never promised anything except that the international Galaxy S should see it in September, which was delayed until November. It is now rolling out for them. They stated the rest of the Galaxy S line would see it before the end of the year. This is not one phone on one carrier like the EVO, this is multiple phones, with different configurations on 4-5 U.S. carriers. The first leaked version was fairly clean, with everything working (tethering) like the international version had. I assume that this was the baseline that the carriers received so they could "add" their functionality to it. The second leaked version had tethering disabled (or the capability for ATT to know you were tethering was added, however you want to look at it). It apparently was hacked together. I am running it now with Cognition and it works OK, but I like the first leaked version better.
Yes it is taking longer than most had hoped, but it is coming...
