Google Photos causes excessive CPU usage

Hi, I've recently found that with the LG G5 only, when I edit a photo on google photos on the desktop PC, I will find that the photos app can be working in the background for up to and over an hour, dependent on the number of phones. I have photos installed on my secondary phone Xperia Z3 and my Pixel C; neither exhibit this behaviour. Has anyone else noticed this?

Have you tried clearing the app cache/data for Google Photos?
