How to turn off the last used app icon in the lower right of home screen?

I've searched Google but haven't found the answer to what I'm trying to do.

The icon in the lower right of the screen changes and shows the last app you opened.

Is there a way to disable it or remove it? I want to put a icon there that doesn't change.

Are you talking about the rightmost shortcut in the Favorites tray? You're using the Pixel Launcher, and not some 3rd party one, right?

Try long-pressing any empty area of the homescreen, then Home Settings>Suggestions, and turn off "Suggestions on Home screen".

Yes, I'm using the Pixel launcher.

That worked. I got as far as Home Settings on my own.
