Phoenix always gets screwed by sprint. I honestly don't understand their reasoning considering it's one of the largest markets in the country.

Nashville's towers are being tested and nearly ready for a launch, so if it doesn't get launched until November the level of laziness would be of a maginitude unheard of. Over 9000!!!!

Doesn't really get anyone excited does it? Even if you're in the first launch market this Friday you'll only have a 1 in 10 chance that it will be in your neighborhood.

Not sure where you're getting 1 in 10 from? All the first round markets will be between 30% - 50% complete at time of launch. Though most of them don't show those numbers complete at this time, those are only what the OEMs have reported. Once the launch date hits (15th) we will probably see more accurate numbers.

I'm excited, but not for awhile. Everywhere near my home is scheduled lateer in the year and early next. I actually just saw a tweet from S4GRU about my actual town a little while ago.

Just curious, but if there are lte sites in the county you live in, will the network extend out further or if I didn't have 4g before does that mean I won't have lte either?

Anticipated Sites Complete at Market Launch. According to the Network Vision schedules
that S4GRU has reviewed, if Sprint launched the market in October, these are the anticipated
sites that would likely have LTE complete at that time. This would provide fairly good LTE
coverage over many parts of the market.

Sprint will eventually be able to get better coverage with LTE than it did with WiMAX. Sprint's WiMAX system was always challenged by being on the very high-frequency 2.6GHz band. That band can support a lot of users, but it has trouble with distance and wall penetration. LTE will be on 1900MHz, the same as Sprint's existing CDMA network. It'll use the same towers, too. So eventually, Sprint's LTE coverage should look a lot like its 3G coverage.

Correct, basically with sprint vision if u look on there website they'd have a bunch of little broadcasting stations (towers) compared to using pong range big station towers which in turn will mean a better coverage area

It gets even better. Eventually, Sprint will also re-purpose the very coveted 800Mhz band from the Nextel sites for LTE. This has MUCH better penetration and distance power than 1900Mhz. Unfortunately, the Evo LTE will not be able to use that frequency, but it will be a few years before this happens, so by then, many or most of the Evo LTE's will be replaced by phones that can. Then the typical Sprint phone will be able to use 3G and LTE at 1900Mhz *and* LTE at 800Mhz.

Plus, Network Vision is also upgrading the 3G network at the same time, so even that will have faster speeds, more capacity, and better distance (coverage).

Re: Network Vision / 4G LTE Deployment Running List as of July 16

So, when the status is 35% complete, does that mean that 35% of the towers that they are intending to update/upgrade to LTE have been completed, but it doesn't really matter if they have been updated because the "Launch Date" hasn't arrived? (i.e. we won't see any 4G activity until the launch date regardless of how many towers have been upgraded)

Lol! Houston is live with a whole 14% completion!!! In the mean time, none of us can get 4G. And the scheduled completion is Feb 2013. That is crappy "Go Live".

Pretty much. You may see glimpses here and there before launch date, as they test and iron out things, but don't count on consistency until the launch date.
