No its really a downgrade actually. It wont even get the gingerbread update due to the 1ghz requirement, it has a low 800mhz processor.
Gingerbread doesn't require a 1 Ghz processor, and the Shift's processor is actually faster than the Evo in benchmarks.
Also, for everyone else, why does it matter that Sprint didn't announce any phones? The phones that At&t and Verizon announced won't be coming out for several months anyways. Sprint has plenty of time to announce phones.
