Why does my Samsung Galaxy 5 have a circle with a line through it?

Can't make calls on my galaxy 5 nor incoming calls cause of the circle with line through it

Welcome to Android Central! Remove the SIM card, make sure the card and the card slot are clean, then reinsert and see if the problem persists. If it does, contact your carrier and ask for a replacement SIM.
