How do I gain more space in my internal storage?

Have a Cube U55GT_C8 running Android 4.4.2. The internal storage is 1.97GB & is showing as being completely full with: "Apps (app data & media content"). How do I clear some space & get some of this data to the USB storage ( which has over 8GB available) or to the micro SD card which has over 29 GB free. I have the SD card set as the default write disk.

By uninstalling apps or deleting files.

I have the SD card set as the default write disk.

Everything still downloads to internal storage, then gets moved to the card. (Windows works the same way - everything downloads to the C drive.)

If you root the phone, and are willing to keep complete backups (because SD cards won't last more than a couple of years used this way), you can use the SD card as internal storage, by running External 2 Internal SD (Root).
