Problem Getting Started with Samsung Pay

I recently installed Samsung Pay. Last night I decided to get it set up. I opened the Samsung Pay app and immediately got a message indicating that an update is available and that it must be installed before continuing. So I hit the Update button and got a message saying that my device is up-to-date and that therefore no update is necessary. I click OK and it takes me back to the screen saying that I need an update. There is no Continue or Next button. My only options are to try the Update button again (Pointless) or exit the application.

I cleared the cache and it did not make any difference. I removed the app and then re-installed it from the Play store, and that did not resolve the issue either.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this behavior and how to fix it?
