Why does google assistant keep opening by itself?

[Android Central Question]

The same thing is happening to me. All of a sudden this google assistant came out on my phone and it keeps opening on its own. It raises and lowers my volume on its own and plays my music out of nowhere even when the app is not open. It keeps interrupting everything I am doing. How do I get rid of it?

Which device do you have? Does this only happen with headphones plugged in?
